Takon Calculus 1, Chemistry 1 and Physics 1 all in the same semester

I would like to have some review about this choice. It is sound crazy right?

That schedule is similar per the engineering curriculum at my son’s university (second semester) of freshman year. The actual schedule is: Calculus 2, Physics 2, Chemistry 1, and a 2 credit engineering course.

Similar to what i’m taking. Physics 1 ( Classical mechanics) Calc2 (Integrals and Series) and Chem 1 (Intro to Chem for STEM majors) Lots of work, but doable. I also work 20-30 hrs a week. We are half way into the semester and so far i’ve managed to keep all scores above 92%. Not easy but feasible.

You can do it, but be rdy to put in the work.

I will start my first semester as freshman this fall and dad doesn’t want me to take all at the same time. He said if i didn’t do well my gpa will be really hurt. What do you think about it? @inspiration12‌ and @Fsswim1‌

You may want to talk with one of the advisors at the school and see what they think before you register. They can look at your grades, test scores, etc. and help you make an informed decision. Will changing the schedule put you behind? What are the prerequisites for future classes? What are your study habits? A few things to think about…

i would like to transfer to Cornell as Junior in a few years, that’s why i want to push myself. for example it asked for linear algebra and differential equation(so eventually i have to start with calculus in my first semester and do my calculus 3 next summer), it also ask for physics II ( Heat and electromagnetism) , it ask for Dynamics in engineering, liberal studies courses, introduction to computing and of course introductory college biology and ecology and environment course. Ohhh God, it’s a lot!!!
@inspiration12 that’s why i want to do right and take the courses i know i will need. Actually i’m an international student, i got 1610 for the SAT( only got 6 months to work on it, i will retake it for transfer), i’m on the top of my class, 5%, and for my study habit, i don’t have a problem to sleep at 10:00 PM and wake-up at 2:00 to study and sleep again at 4:00. i really want to go through it. but i’m a little scare, especially about my first semester, because i don’t want to be overwhelmed with courses because for the first time i can make my own choices.

Physics 1 often has calculus 1 as a prerequisite.
