I looked up my interviewer on Google and I find her very charismatic and would love to ask her questions about her experiences, but since that would be talking about her and not me, would that be inappropriate?

I've never been interviewed before and feel it should be formal, but at the same time I don't want to seem flat and just answer her questions.

I will be meeting her at her workplace, not a coffee shop or book store, so I don't think it will be too casual.

If you meet your interviewer at her office, it is appropriate to start a conversation about her job. Don’t worry about your interviews, most of them are very casual and conversational.

I think it is okay to ask her a couple of questions, but you are right. The interview IS for her to get to know you better, so don’t make it all about her.

Wow, that’s pretty assertive that you googled her. My daughter has done four interviews and they were all pretty informal…wait and see what kind of “feel” you get and go from there but I think I’d get the heebie jeebies if I knew someone “googled” me lol. I mean that in a good way, in that good for you for doing your research!

the alumni interviews i’ve done have been really unformal. In fact, the last guy said he didn’t like exactly how they were “supposed” to conduct interviews and let me ask a lot more questions. Naturally it came back onto me. A natural and fluid conversation!

Thank you everyone for the feedback! I will be sure to keep this all in mind.

I found her while looking up the place she gave me as her workplace, and it was just so interesting because
I found a video of her speaking and… she is a very powerful speaker. I will say that.
Inspired me just by seeing her speak.
