TAP-TP (Tulane Accelerated Physician Training Program)

I am a freshman (Tulane Class of 2020) who just got admitted to the program. See the link below for more info:
https://www2.tulane.edu/advising/prehealth/academic/tap-tp.cfm

I will try to answer any questions you all may have regarding TAP-TP.

@Trex48

Congratulations!! That is a great accomplishment.

As always with these kinds of threads, anyone is welcome to answer any question asked, it doesn’t have to be just Trex. Although given the topic, I suspect he will remain the authority on this one!

Thank you @fallenchemist I wanted to do this AMA b/c I feel like this program does not get nearly enough exposure. I only knew about it after coming to Top Scholars Weekend back in the spring. This year only 5 students applied and 3 of us got accepted. I just want more people to be aware about TAP-TP and consider to apply.

@Trex48

Absolutely!! It does come up on the forum every year, so CC members looking at Tulane should know about it. But I agree it is a good thing to get the word out more!

Maybe you can describe the application and interview process. I don’t think that has really been discussed before.

I have a question!

Must I put MCB as my major when I apply to Tulane, or can I change it if I am accepted to the program?

Well, I think it might raise a bit of a red flag that you didn’t put that as your major to start. If you are going to apply to TAP-TP, why not just put that down to begin with. If you are accepted into the program, then of course you have to have that major anyway. If you are not accepted into the program, changing to something else is so easy. Unless I am missing something, I see no upside to not putting that as your major. I could understand it if this wasn’t Tulane, and changing majors could be very difficult because you might have to get accepted to another school within the university. But of course it isn’t like that at Tulane, you can move between schools and pick any major at will. Do you agree, @Trex48 ?

You can put down any major you want when applying to Tulane but if you are accepted to the program you will confer with deans and professors to change your schedule and major to CMB.

Do you mind sharing your stats?
