I don't know about the emails, but my mom called the people (eep)... I got in! Anyone get in to Austin?

Hey there Velvet Cloak. Congrats! My name is John, and I found out today I'm going to the "Cornell I" program this summer. Anyway, I live in Austin, so if you want any advice on cool hang out places/best places to eat and socialize around town, we should talk. my screen name is NhojDK. You will love Austin, it is an EXTREMELY cool town.

Crap...I guess this means I did not get in.

I'm not very optimistic.

yeaaah I didn't get anything either... I'm looking into summer alternatives already.

Unfortunately, I have no money...so TASP was my only opportunity. I can always get a job. :(

Yeaah, I was thinking about getting a job and taking classes at a local community college. I've decided that going to a university summer school is probably only worth the experience of meeting new people, and that isn't worth 8 thousand dollars.

Did anyone else get anything today? I haven't gotten anything, so I naturally assume I'm a reject (it softens the blow).

i'm not too worried right now (despite the fact that i'm typing this at three in the morning, after i woke up from unsettling dreams). richard got in, and he hasn't received an e-mail. The only people that have received e-mails are people in the cornell I program. So, until you call tomorrow and confirm whether you got in or not, don't assume anything. I didn't receive my first notification letter until 5 days after it was postmarked, so don't count on the timeliness of the mail either.

hell yeah, just checked my e-mail, and i got into UT austin!!!!

Holy crap people, where were you before my interview!?!!?
Anyway, I went to TASP this past summer (2005).
To be honest, the interview was easy, the essays were much harder.
The interview is simply them asking you questions about your essays which you wrote, so have opinions :) and debating. Much debating. They will turn every opinion upside down so fast that you'll be reeling, but don't worry, if you have a few good answers and feel like you screwed it up, you probably didn't.
I personally thought I aced the interview, but my fellow TASP buddies left close to tears convinced they had no shot, so just go for it.
Be friendly and attentive, and you'll be absolutely fine.
I think I should have tried to scare you guys, but who cares, you won't be in my application year!

If anyone is interested, TASP is way cool, so apply. All you have to do is score in the 99th percentile on the PSAT or convince your school that you're worth recommending. I got both, so I can attest that they're both possible.
Good Luck!

What TASP, Pianoking? If Austin, who are you, so I can give you a really big hug? :D
I was one of the kids who left my interview in tears... It wasn't that hard, but I was sick that day. I had a nice interviewer, too, who seemed to say everything as a question but wasn't much of an aggressive debater like Pianoking's seem to have been.

In the words of one of my darlingest TASPers,
TASP was the greatest ****ing 6 weeks of my life!

P.S. To all of you from the other TASPs, did you like your lambies? =^-^= AUSTIN RULES!

The mutilated lamb was funny, the letter dissing our (lack of a) chef no so. Just to make this clear, our chef rocked.

And the UMich TASP ruled. You can't deny it. :D

Anyway, care to regale us with stories of what happened in Austin? One of our factota had something juicy about your factota but didn't want to share out of ethical reasons or something similarly unconvincing. I second (with much vigorous finger-snapping) the TASPers who posted before me, and urge anybody to apply, should they get the chance.

U Mich TASP rocked!!! Go Jsn, lol. Yeah, that lamb was funny, we stuffed it in a Looza bottle, I think you guys should have seen the picture...

Meh, you guys have your priorities ALL mixed up if you think UMich rocked. Austin, people. Austin.

Also I really would like to hear anything you know about our factota -.- It seems that I may have missed this particular "juicy" detail - Or maybe you UMich'ers just exaggerate.

Kidding, of course- I have respect for all TASPers because TASP is beautiful- but Austin is still the best.

sorry to interrupt, but what exactly is TASP...????
