I’m seeing it tomorrow. My siater, husband and I made 12 bracelets (6 for me and 6 for my sister). My husband helped make them but won’t wear one to the movie!
Where are you going on Tuesday? It’s only playing on weekends in my area.
Brain fart- I intended to write (and corrected it) Thursday
My daughter and 7-year-old granddaughter are going to the movie today. The mom is not a Swiftie but somehow the 7-year-old has become totally enamored. She’s going to be Taylor for Halloween! She made 10 friendship bracelets to wear today. I’m not exactly sure how that all happened. She had never heard a TS song until this summer when they were on a road trip and mom played some. And she doesn’t watch tv or music videos. It’s kind of amazing to me how Taylor’s music has attracted this young child! It’s a phenomenon for sure! (I wish I were going but they are going with friends and Nana wasn’t invited. I may have to go by myself!)
My daughter invited her Dad to see the movie this PM. He wore a pink shirt to the Barbie movie, but said he didn’t have any sparkles to wear to the TS movie, so I lent him this:
He’s such a good sport!
I bought tickets for a Sunday showing the day they became available. Unfortunately, an unexpected hospital stay this week for a kidney stone infection means I’m not roaming the world right now, but at least I have a young friend (colleague at my semi-retirement job who was bridesmaid in D’s wedding) who can use the tickets. I feel only slightly better today, but know I am moving in the right direction as I am jealous of all who are getting to enjoy this movie treat this weekend. 3 of my nurses came in one night to talk about their love for TS after one found out that I was a casual fan. All 3 had been to the Nashville show last summer and one has been to 13 shows. Her grandma plays/played tennis with Taylor’s mom. Something to look forward to in the coming weeks! Happy times to all who are enjoying this treat sooner rather than later
Twenty bucks for the Taylor snacks?
Yep, he’s a pushover, lol. They had a great time!
I had a chance to go see the film last night and took it (and I’ll go again later in the week) - I was immensely surprised by this young woman and her command of the stage. I even found I knew more of her songs than I realized. She has charisma, seems very down to earth, and having a front row seat to the concert really was enjoyable. Her band, her dancers, the production, all top notch. What a fun night. It pleases me that young people are connecting with her, as she seems to be a great role model.
But…the most amazing thing happened to me while watching - the film segued into Reputation, and the first song …Ready for It? started - then all of a sudden every hair on my body stood at attention…because I had completely forgotten that my D was contacted for an “urgent” (need it by tomorrow!) costuming design and execution for dancers - and those costumes were right there on the screen! D and her team worked 30 hours straight to design, cut and sew 6 costumes x 2, as they needed them for 2 nights. I think I cried. I hardly paid attention to the music as I was totally focused on the dancers! A mother’s dream.
My husband worked with Taylor when she was very young and had just moved to Nashville. We were at her now-famous night at the Bluebird. He would say as a teen she was scattered and awkward and not a particularly good singer. But she was also lovely and her parents were incredibly supportive.
Having known her back then I can tell you that she is definitely the hardest working person in music. Her songwriting talent was always decent but she was a terrible dancer (I’m not being mean, she used to joke about it!) and not much of a singer to start with. She has worked her tail off to be both now.
I was quite aware during the film that she never really “danced” - she moved, she stomped, she posed. But “dance” - nope. Still, she kept up and that was great!
Yes, she’s definitely found a way to compensate!
We saw her and Miley Cyrus perform together once and the raw talent from Miley was so far above Taylor at the time that it was hard to imagine that their career trajectories would be so different. But kudos to Taylor, she absolutely deserves it.
We saw the movie this morning. Really enjoyed it!
When “Look What You Made Me Do” came out, I watched a couple of reactions to the video posted by Taylor super fans on YouTube. Every one of them freaked out at her dance section, saying they could not believe how far she’d come from the awkward newborn colt moves of the past. Apparently she has worked incredibly hard to become the performer she is.
My D saw Taylor several times in Nashville years ago. She wasn’t particularly impressed with her voice back then. She’s very impressed now (and my D is not easily impressed when it comes to singing). It’s definitely a testament to her hard work that she honed her voice (and her song choices are, of course, designed to fit her voice).
The Taylor Swift concert movie will be available on streaming on Dec. 13.
Her birthday. She is a marketing genius
I just saw a you tube video of her doing Better Man at bluebird in 2018. She gave song to Little Big Town who made it a hit. When you listen to this I don’t think your daughter would can’t doubt her voice.
TS at Lambeau Field!
