Hello everyone. This is my first post, so please forgive me if this has been discussed before in some capacity. But, in the past few months, I've realized that I'd really like to do the Teach For America Program. The problem is that it is supposed to be pretty hard to get in (pretty prestigious).

I'll be graduating in the spring of 11' with a bachelor arts degree in psychology. My GPA is high (higher than a 3.6). But I go to a small, inexpensive state school. And I'm always hearing how so many of the accepted applicants went to Harvard, Stanford, Yale...etc...

Moreover, I don't have a lot of extracurricular activity. I am a psychology psi chi honors student. And coming in the spring, I'm going to try and do this mentor program at my school (where I will mentor other students). But after that, that's about all I will have.

I don't know if that will be good enough, unfortunately.

I'd like to open this forum up to any advice, anything I could do at my school, anything that would increase my chances of getting to a phone interview, and ultimately an in-person interview.

Also, please feel free to talk about Teach For America in general. What are your impressions of it, opinions, experiences, etc...

Thank you for any and all input here. This is a great forum!
