There seems to be a lot of discussion about good theatre majors schools, but how about those kids who want to build the sets, run lights and sound, etc. What are the good technical theatre departments? I would appreciate any help on where my son should start looking.
Thanks

General theatre majors will include all aspects of theatre, but you can get an emphasis on a certain aspect in most schools. So there’s a set of required classes but then with major related electives he could take classes specifically about set design or lights or whatever. Also he could be a crew member for the various shows. The top three schools for theatre majors are Yale, NYU and UCSD, but a lot of smaller schools also have really good theatre majors so it’s just a matter of exploring good theatre programs in general in order to find a good technical program.
