Teen Critic Program at the Shakespeare Theater Company in D.C.

Does anyone have any experience with the Teen Critic writing program at the Shakespeare Theater Company in D.C.? There isn’t much information on the website… Is it a large time commitment? Do you go to all the shows in the season? Who are the people that you work with? Is it free, or do you pay student price tickets?

There isn’t a lot of information on the website, but two of your questions are answered:

Over the course of a full season, Teen Critics will attend each production, receive a press packet, and have the opportunity to meet with professional theatre critics from local newspapers before writing their own reviews.
Students will also participate in writing workshops, giving them the tools to assess artistry onstage and articulate their opinions effectively.

STC’s Audience Enrichment Manager will work with the Critics on revisions of each article to prepare them for publication online or in school newspapers.

Given that these are highly specific questions for a very specific program, the best way to get this information would be to email them directly and ask.

An update for anyone considering this program. I just received an email that I was accepted into the program and will be learning specific dates soon. We have 7 events during the season and all of it is free! With two writing seminars I am hoping that I will learn a lot!
