My stats are pretty average for the top universities, so my EC’s are what really set me apart. I know I want to major in business or marketing, and I want to be in the fashion business after school. I’ve owned my own clothing business for two years and have put a lot of time into releasing three collections under the brand, I founded a fashion design club at my school and put on a dress drive with DECA the month leading up to prom, I placed first at the national DECA conference for professional selling, I founded an annual gallery for local artists and designers in Denver, I’m attending an entrepreneurship program at Berkeley (my first choice school) in the summer, I do freelance fashion photography as a sort of side hustle, and since I’m only in the 2nd semester of my junior year I plan on taking up an officer position at my school’s DECA chapter.
No one can chance you without GPA, test scores and your Course rigor.
I have a 3.6 unweighted and 4…2 weighted, but without freshman year I’d have a 4.0 and 4.6 respectively, so you can see how that year went. I got a 1400 on the SAT and a 31 on the ACT. I’ve also taken 6 AP classes, but I had to sort of follow my school’s AP class limit freshman and sophomore year, so I pretty much took the maximum amount allowed. I’ve only taken the first two AP tests so far, and I got a 4 and 5 on them.
Test scores and GPA too low for T20
Well, I’m gonna retake the SAT and ACT because I’ve only taken them once without studying, and my GPA has been the main thing I’ve been worried about because I got straight B’s freshman year but straight A’s ever since. Plus UC Berkeley uses UC GPA which only goes from the end of freshman year to the end of junior year, so I have a 4.6 UC GPA. I know they also look at freshman classes and grades of course, but I don’t think B’s in high-level freshman classes would destroy my application.
