I can’t remember which basic Engineering course recommended it to my son, but, he STRESSED that he could teach students engineering and they could graduate with a 4.0, but, they could easily still be unemployed. He made sure the students knew that Engineering was as much about work experience, making contacts, and finding a niche, as it was about the education they would receive in Tuscaloosa. It made an impression on my son.

Edit: My son is very pleased with the education and opportunities for work he has had. He did an REU at Duke last Summer and has worked at a Chemical Company in Tuscaloosa during the school year and continues there this summer. The last son will be applying there as soon as I can get him out of the pool this Summer. UA offers a great education coupled with low costs for high stats students. What’s not to like?
