Tell me somethin' good . . .

When I got home from work today, I found the dishes done, the counter wiped down, the fridge cleaned out, and a fresh bag in the trash can. And I didn’t have to ask anyone to do it. It’s nice to have kids home for the summer, and it’s extra nice when they clean up after themselves!

My two teenagers, who are typical and sort of annoying much of the time, made me totally crack up two days in a row this week.

Last night, I was in D2’s room after her shower and she was telling me something with attitude and sort of 'dissing" me. I can’t even remember what she was saying, but while she was saying it, she was wearing a turban made of an old beach towel around her head and it was sticking up about 3 feet into the air. I told her “Turn around and look in the mirror and say the same thing you just said to me.” All she had to do was take one quick glance and we both burst out laughing!

D1, who likes to bond with me by ranting about things, came in after her basketball practice and told me about having to help with the new rising freshman. She said she was trying to teach them something and did her best to be patient and explain things simply. But she said “MOM! I was talking to them and looking them right in their eyes and trying to explain something, but I could tell that there was just not anything in there!”. I just cracked up at her hilarious rant thinking to myself “Hmmm - that’s sounds very familiar…”

Do we share a grandson? I think I have the cutest grandbaby in the universe. I also love to kiss him.

I know how you feel, OP. I blocked myself from Twitter and FB for the rest of the week. So, that’s some good news. But the really good news is HS freshman D finished the semester with straight A+'s! She’s my youngest and I’m so glad she’s motivated.

DD1/SIL got mortgage approved; I’ve booked my flights to go see the house and ‘furniture shop’ with them.

DD2 and HS BFFs are on a girl’s reunion trip; so nice to see these long lasting friendships thrive.

This thread is such a breath of fresh air from the usual daily bombardment of negativity!

We had beautiful weather for our wedding (2nd time for both of us). I am so glad my 85 year old mom lived long enough to see me happy again.

I got to go to the beach for the first time in a while (didn’t go much last year) and enjoy a beautiful day with a beautiful gal (my wife:), got to see the little shore birds struggle against the wind and otherwise have bird attitude:).

Our S is at a summer music festival for two months at a New Mexico ski resort, and before going there he was worried about being there for so long, that the other participants would be the typical music jocks who only care about their playing, etc, etc (he likes to complain)…and we haven’t gotten any complaints yet, other then he says he isn’t getting enough sleep because is practicing a lot then talking to people late into the night:). Not to mention he is eating gourmet food done by a french cook:).

My baby graduated from middle school today… .end of yet another era for my family.

So cute to see her in tears, even though probably 95% of her class will join her in the high school down the block.

I wish my dad could have lived to know her; we lost him 2 weeks before she was born. He would have so loved her spirit, her openness to people and new ideas, her gentle acceptance of others.

Congrats Class! Best wishes to you and your hubby for your future together! xxx

I was out walking and got to give directions to several family groups who were lost. “Dad, you are SO embarassing just ask” sounds the same in Arabic, Chinese, and French, it turns out! It’s all in the inflection and the eyeroll…

Mom’s physical therapist took her outside for a short walk. I was so happy to see her out. She had a tough few months with a hospitalization and 7 weeks in rehab. She needs a walker and assistance, but it’s progress.

My daughter got her driving permit today and her dad took her out driving for the first time today. She did great and they came back having had a great first driving experience.

I had lunch with my mother and one of her friends today – because I can now that I am retired. I love starting out each day with, “what do I want to do today?”

I would have said I ain’t got nothin for you until about an hour ago, the last month has been horrifying.

But I just saw my older son, who unexpectedly quit his job. He’s interviewing with Google, LinkedIn, Drop box, Uber, and two other companies next week, and he’s really excited. It’s so awesome to see him happy. And he got a haircut too, hallelujah. I didn’t even have to nag him!

@busdriver11: I’m wondering what company he’s interviewing with that got censored in your post!!

My vodka tonic is really a good one :)>- (even if it is early thanks to my HMO’s inaccessibility).
And I took my annoyance today and made two phone calls and have appointments with new
providers and someone actually answered the phone! and they were super helpful and friendly.
No phone tree!!
Also, the cakes we are tasting for our D’s wedding look lovely. The gals at the bakery were super
pleasant, also.

It was Drop box, I changed it. I’m not sure why that would be censored if you make it one word, is that something nasty? I am so not with the times!

We met with the plumber today about remodeling our bathrooms. They’re also going to quote changing out our mirrors that have de-silvered over the decades. We also got our printer repaired!

I have faith. It is good!
