Serendipity! While taking a leisurely walk yesterday I saw an “atmospheric phenomenon” that was confounding and lovely. I did some research when I got home-sun dogs!
I love sun dogs. So often they are there, if you look closely at high clouds.
My daughter sent a pic of her first official business card, Im so excited!
My 20 year old son is closing on a home today and I am so stinkin proud of him!
S got a raise (without asking) after only 7 mo. on the job. (Now, if only he would get a haircut )
Pretty clearly he didn’t need the haircut to impress his employer, @atomom! Good for him!
I correctly disposed of three tube tv’s today that have been cluttering my house for years!
Just found out that my brother-in-law/sister-in-law are expecting their 2nd child. He is 52 and she is 43. So surprised, and happy for them and their 3yo, who seems really excited about being a big brother!
A friend of my husbands just finally contacted us about getting a job with our company. We have been waiting for someone to ask for help, and it’s been years since anyone was interested. He’s amazing, brilliant, personable, many years of experience being a test pilot, and our company would be lucky to have him. Win/win. We have wanted to help someone get hired for so long, but everyone we know is already employed, and it’s exciting to finally get to help an awesome guy!
This afternoon, as I was going thru the stack of mail on the dining room table … bill, bill, junk, bill, junk…OMG!
It was a card from an old friend from middle school who I had lost contact with. I’m so happy & can’t wait to catch up!
S is overseas for grad school this year and just sent me his itinerary for winter break. I am so excited he will get to travel for a month and experience so much history and culture in 4 or more countries. I love living vicariously through him!
- Spent from 11:00 am until 3:20 with tech support from BoA and Quicken. I purchased new update fromQuicken, but still didn't work. Ready to cry and scream, then shared screen with sweet Quicken person. Problem got fixed. Did you all know Intuit soldmQuicken10? That's when my problems began
- I shopped so much last week. A travel tote, b/d gifts for newish g/f of son, coworker. But today, after walk in gardens and lunch with a friend, she really wanted to go to the GAP. We both ordered pants online. I thought the PJs were cute. In short, at g/f's suggestions, I got the same set for my male coworker ( as had ordered for son), and 2 other different sets for 2 female co-workers. Even at 60% off, a little more than wanted to spend, but to be done with the toughest gifts, yeah!!!!
Wow, nice that you give gifts to coworkers. I never have done so and H hasn’t either–makes life a bit easier on gift shopping. I mostly buy edibles that I mail to people I stay in touch with.
I work with 4 others. When I’ve been in far larger groups, we draw one name. Gifts generally are $20-25, but mine average $32. Still, to be done, and like what I got , if worth the extra. Parking is already crazy at the Mall.
We had been trying to figure out how to have a common fence between our home and the neighbor’s home (have lived in our house for over 30 years and it was just sold to a “flipper”). We were working things out pretty nicely until all of a sudden he sent an unpleasant email demanding that we remove the existing wall, even though we have a signed party wall agreement that was executed just before we purchased the house in 1990.
In any case, he came over this morning and we had a good talk and cleared the air and now are all on the same page and happily will both contribute toward the cost of having a good wall that will look nice and be functional.
Just came home from seeing “Something Rotten”. Really funny and if you like musicals you’ll enjoy all the references. What a fun afternoon we had.
(Next up: Hamilton! less than 2 weeks away!)
A student I helped on CC 3 years ago just sent me a Starbucks gift certificate to thank me. It was totally unexpected, but it brought a smile (big) to my face. I hope she is doing well in school and is happy with her choice.
W’s current lawsuit thing settled last night reasonably well so she gets next week back without having to sit in court.
Had a fun weekend up at our cabin in the Maine mountains. A couple of inches of snow on the ground made the trip up our steep hill a little harrowing! But it was wonderful to get away from it all. Got to spend Saturday evening with old friends who have a cabin near ours.
Thought I was going to have to pay for a new tire as they thought they couldn’t patch the existing tire where it had picked up a screw. Actually the credit they were giving me for the tire was very favorable and I would have happily paid $55 for a $220 tire. But they were able to patch the tire so the cost was zero.
