^
Wait, you guys know the readers? Are the readers TASP alumni?

Readers are associated with Telluride Association in some way, but not necessarily former TASPers.

Funny aside: I know someone at school here who went to your high school, Keilexandra. lol.

Each application is read twice initially, and possibly a third time if the first two readers disagree. Readers are members of MBTA and CBTA, with TA members usually serving as third readers.

I will say that your applications is scrutinized to nearly an insane level, simply due to the extreme competitiveness of the program. As a reader, you guys completely astound me in your accomplishments. I wish you all the best of luck for TASP and the future.

^
Woah, they have high schoolers read the applications as well?

No, high schoolers don’t read apps. The youngest readers will be CBTA/MBTA members, and maybe some other TA-affiliated college students. I’m a high school senior, and the most I can do this year for TA is perhaps interview (on a committee).

^Unfortunately! I would so love to read apps.

Oh, reading comprehension fail on my part. UndeniablyAsian is a freshman, not a senior. Explains my shabby CR SAT score. ):

wait, you are saying TASP let some kid who does CC and done chance me thread or two him/herself read kids’ apps to see who get interviewed?
you better not telling the truth, or I want the check I donated to MBTA back.

^Short answer is yes. CBTA/MBTA members do the bulk of the reading.

No it’s not true. TASP checks everyone’s background to make sure they’ve never, ever done anything lame like CC before they let them get involved with helping the organization. Heaven forbid someone who attended a college-preparatory academic program decide to participate in a college information website! Sacrilege!!! L.L Nunn is rolling over in his grave!

If you think CC is so terrible that you would consider withdrawing support of an organization that you’ve said before has changed your kid’s life (it’s changed my life too) just because someone who also had their life changed by the organization wants to help, and uses CC, why the hell do you have over 500 posts on this website? I really hope you were joking. I’m sorry if some of us don’t live up to your idea of what a TASPer should be like as a person, but we love the Telluride Association as much as you do.

kids, you are saying none of you find it funny if s/he is indeed the reader of the apps, s/he is doing it right now as posted here while all kids applied are biting nails if they’d make it or not.
If s/he is the freshman living first year in MBTA and speaking from own experiences, wouldn’t be creepy considering TA’s attitude about CC horned kids in general?
If noone cares, I do really do think the founder will twist in his grave or let it die like other branches out of funding or understanding.

hey, wombat, you’d be 500 man/woman fairly soon, (not nearly 3.000 even I tried my hardest ) let that pass.
I am doing this for bigger ( I can’t say better, just deeper, maybe since I lived about three times longer than you all) reasons than some acceptance to some college or grad school or whatnot, I thought TASP could have taught you, of all people that much.
I said enough, I had enough, now really really leave you alone.

This is my 3,767th post and I see nothing wrong with that. A glance at my thread history will show you that I’ve contributed my fair share to CC’s knowledge pool–a few analysis threads, and notably the NMF scholarship compilation.

As “sad” as some may think it, I will probably still be here after being accepted to college, because I’m part of the community and because I want to help those who come after, year after year. Among the idiots, year after year, there are genuinely floundering people who could do so much with realistic guidance.

I don’t find in funny because UndeniablyAsian didn’t say ANYTHING that would make kids more anxious. He gave some relavent information about the admissions process and wished everyone good luck. The only way this could make someone nervous is if they’re worried about readers being on this site at all. To that I say two things. The first: everything on here is public, and if you’ve treated it that way you have nothing to worry about at all (I personally would say no one here has anything to worry about). Second, readers are volunteers. They don’t have the time or desire to scour a 70+ page internet thread looking for dirt; they have a ton of apps to read.

No. If he’s at MBTA, he deserves to be there and obviously had reasons for wanting to go to a place like it, which for people who don’t know is a residential house run by the Telluride Association at UMich with a focus on service. Yes, TA may have an attitude against CC horned kids, and by this I assume you mean resume-padders and grade-grubbers. You have to have real depth and real passion for learning to impress the Telluride Association, this is true. Just being on this website, which as KxA said can be quite a valuable source of information, does not mean that one is an inauthentic person who does things for prestige only. I trust the Telluride Association’s judgement of this poster’s character, based on multiple essays and interviews, much better than yours, based on the fact that they have less than 50 posts on a college information website. Keep in mind that if it wasn’t for CC, some kids would never have found out about TASP at all.

Look, I don’t think one needs any deeper reasons to be on a college information website than to…get information about college and the admissions process, which is why I’m here. I don’t know what you’re implying, that TASP taught me that I should just stop caring about the college process/scholarships and not try to get any information on it ever, because that would be ridiculous.

It makes me sad that you think that.

OMG I LOVE LEARNING AND EXPERIENCING LIFE (SOMETIMES). PLEASE LET ME IN THROUGH THE DOOR THAT IS TELLURIDE AND SHOW ME THE OTHER SIDE WHERE THE GRASS REALLY IS GREENER. I WANT TO PULL MY HAIR OUT AND CLAW MY EYES AND CREATE A VERY LARGE HOLE IN THE WALL. I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL DECISIONS ARE OUT PLEASE HELP ME I THINK I NEED TO BE PUT IN AN ASYLUM. THE ASYLUM OF TASP WHERE THE WALLS ARE PADDED WITH EDUCATION.

hmm… did that lighten the mood a little? But really, will the readers please read faster? I mean, you’ve been assigned to read so you all must be at least somewhat proficient. How long does it really take to read a little over a thousand apps from the brightest kids in America? I would assume just a couple minutes per essay. That is, of course, unless you guys are IDIOTS.

just kidding, for anybody that really took that seriously.

and I like how this thread just died after the app deadline.

^ lololol.

Okay, I’m back. That didn’t last very long. I CAN’T STAY AWAY! And the thread didn’t really die. Posts are still trickling in.

very…

…slowly…

Haha. Yeah…this thread is like a parabola, its lowest point being a whiles after applications are in. It will start getting back into the swing of things as the x values near mid-March…

…sense…much like Darth Vader holding a blender in the middle of the ocean…
I make none…

Also, ellipsis. There seem to be a lot of those.

^ Agreed, especially about the ellipses. But I like your parabola analogy, and Darth Vader with a blender. Star Wars references always get kudos in my book :D

what happened to everyone?!

for some reason, i’ve been able to forget about my application. even so, how does the TASP thread end up on the second page of SPs on CC!?

~20 days until interview notifications!

Last year I think I was the first to find out. I got mine on March 4th. Please don’t bombard them. You’ll know when you do!
