For the analysis, how formal does the tone have to be? I feel like this one should be more formal, but I’m unsure… Should we not refer to ourselves? (use I, me, etc)

Basically, do we have to follow ‘formal academic tone’?

EDIT:

Same question for the 2nd essay…

The others ask about your life specifically, so it’s obvious that you don’t have to follow FAT for those.

Of course I have to be the creeper UMICH TASSER 2011! WOOT!!
~~Fades away

I think the fact that they don’t say directly that “you must follow formal academic tone” means that you can do what you’re most comfortable doing.

Essays completed so far: zero.
procrastination at its finest right here…

^ same here. Ah, and with finals and SAT coming up, I am too busy. agh.

How long are your seminar preference essays?

^ Mine is 656 words. A paragraph (or two) for each seminar.

^ Mine is about 300. I just don’t seem to have anything to say about the seminars I’m not interested in, other than the fact that I’m uninterested.

okay great, thanks. and how long were your longest essays?

Also, I can’t believe how short this thread is. It seems like the pre-TASP discussion has been declining each year- maybe the number of prospective TASPlicants is declining too.

…kidding. just wishful thinking :P

This is a dumb question, but is TASP the summer between Sophomore and Junior year?

TASS (Sophomore Seminar) is between sophomore and junior year. TASP (Summer Program) is between junior and senior year. (:

Thank you!

Probably time to start on essays now… No idea what to write for some. Especially the personal conflict… What if I don’t feel I have been through a truly important conflict in my life?..

Same here. I don’t feel like I’ve been through a significant conflict to write about… ah. And I can’t get myself to start on the essays!

I’d never heard of this thing before, but now I’ve gotten the mail and become obsessed. ^^

EDIT: You’ve had no significant conflict in your life? Oh, First World problems!

From the [TASP FAQ page](http://www.tellurideassociation.org/programs/high_school_students/tasp/tasp_faq.html#conflict):

You guys might be constraining yourselves by your own definition. Conflicts don’t have to be the prototypical dispute between two people. Be creative :)

Under the question saying “recent honors and awards”, how recent must they be? Also, can school issued academic awards count toward this or should they be more prestigious?
