So I'm applying to Temple through Common App and I chose to go test-optional. On the Temple admissions website however, it states the following:

"You now have the option of submitting your standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) or choosing the Temple Option (not sending your test scores) and answering several self-reflective, short-essay questions. Your responses provide important details in our comprehensive admissions review process and will be considered carefully by our committee. "

Since I chose test-optional on common app, wouldn't I be able to get these short-essay questions? Or can I only answer them using the standard Temple Application? Because they're not showing up on common app.

I'd like someone who'd already applied through Temple using Common App, and took the test optional route to apply. Thanks.

"We call it “the Temple option” and that students will have the option, when they are filling out their application, to either submit their test scores or not submit their test scores.

If they choose not to submit their test scores, we will then prompt them to visit what we call the “TU portal.” They will have access to four short-answer, self -reflective questions. And we mean short-answer, I think we mean that we’re asking them to complete these answers within 100 to 150 words. Then those responses will be scored, and we will convert those into a score that will then be applied to our overall admission deliberations."

The thing is, when I logged into my TUPortal account I didn’t see any of those questions. Besides, would they even know I applied since I submitted my application through CommonApp instead, and not the standard Temple application? I’m interested in how that works out, because I really wanna answer these questions as soon as possible.

call them. there were some blips in teh common app last year. or you can email them. i’ve done both and admisisons responded both ways. see if anything is “missing” and what you can do to resolve problem. others may have similar issues and admissions may have a short answer for u.

No need, got an email this morning about the questions. Apparently I was able to use the TUPortal account I made before I submitted on Common App which was pretty convenient.

Anyone have an idea what the questions are, by the way?
