Hey all,
I'm applying to Emory RD (thanks NorCalDad :)) and I have a bit of an issue with my standardized tests.

SAT: 640M/650CR/730W
SAT2: 760Math2/750USH
ACT: 34M/34E/29R/25S - 31 Composite
Retaking ACT this December, and if Emory superscores, I bet I can swing a 32 or 33.

Now the question is, which scores do I send? Obviously I should sent my ACT score. I really want to send my Subject Test scores, but my Reasoning test will get tacked onto the report. So which is the lesser of two evils - not sending my SAT scores, or sending them all and hoping my Reasoning score doesn't screw me over.

Emory does not "superscore" the ACT. It takes the best composite score from a single administration of the ACT. Conversely, with the SAT Reasoning Test, they do apply the best of the individual scores for each of the Math, CR, and Writing.

It's a tough call regarding your test scores. The ACT score alone should be sufficient, given your solid GPA. This assumes you also have challenged yourself with academic rigor, write good essays, provide excellent recommendations, and have strong EC's. That, plus demonstrate interest (at least order the video through Emory's admissions website). Your ACT score puts you at about the median of the admitted freshman class. Your SAT scores put you at about the 25th percentile, meaning 25% of the admitted freshman class for this year scored at or below this mark.

It's a hard decision to make because I feel the Subject Tests could give me a boost in admissions. Unless of course Emory doesn't weigh Subject Tests heavily in making decisions...

when i visited the admissions officer said that SAT IIs can never hurt you and they never make decisions on the basis of SAT IIs. the fact that they're entirely optional suggests that they probably don't play much of a role in admissions

If your first language is English, it would be better to get 650~700 in CR and 650~700 in MATH. Emory almost does NOT count SAT Writing score; it means CR+MATH score is the most important. CR+MATH=1350~1450 would be great for applying RD to EMORY.

If your first language is NOT English, then just try to improve your MATH score about 700ish range.

In case of your ACT score, it is decent score for applying RD to EMORY. Also total score in ACT is not important. Because you already took SAT II Math and US History, Emory will just go over your English+Reading+Math total subscore.

I recommend you to send all three test score (SAT, ACT, SAT2)! Your SAT score is not bad at all...

i would just send everything and let emory pick. i don'tthink they superscore act (don't know why colleges don't), but your SAT II's will help so send them. they will disregard you SAT I's.
