tests?

I live in the Midwest, where the ACT is more commonly used. I am applying to some Midwestern schools, but mostly East Coast schools (Yale, NYU, Harvard, Tufts). I know they say that ACT and SAT are treated the same, but I want your input. Which one should I take?

I see no reason not to take the Admissions office at their word. Blow out the ACT -- I wouldn't sweat the SATs if I did that. Good luck to you

Thanks for your input.
Anyone else??

I got in with ACT (but along with 4 SAT IIs), but there's a recent thread somewhere in which a person reported of getting in this year with only ACT. So you are definitely fine! Don't worry about all the SAT-ACT preference thing! When they say they have no preference, they really mean it!

So would you recommend taking SAT II's and the ACT if you don't want to take the SAT? I could handle that...lol.

But when you said one kid got in with just the ACT, it makes me worry that he might be one in a few...but maybe not...maybe I'm just overreacting...that's kind of how I roll.

D was accepted to the Class of '09 with just the ACT.

Read the Yale requirements - I believe if you take the ACT you are not required to take any SAT IIs.

I was the one who posted my S got in with ACT only. He applied EA when he had a 30. Two weeks later he found out he rec'd a 33 on the recent test and forwarded that. He did not submit any SAT II's or SAT. He was accepted EA.

I have been to 2 admission sessions, at each one they said with an ACT, they do NOT require SAT II.

Take the one you'll do better on. That's all. Yale really doesn't care which you take.
