I'm currently enroll at Houston Community College and will transfer soon after this year. My dream is to go to UT, but I doubt I would stand any chance of getting in. So I have another plan for my Bachelor degree, I want to work in Television production field and it looks like Texas Tech and Texas State are good and affordable school for me. They both have communication school that offered electronic media programs.

Texas State is closer to my home (Houston) and the cost is slightly cheaper so I kind of lean over it a little bit but I still not very sure.

Why do you think you don’t have a chance of getting into UT? Is your GPA low? Research both programs & look at what each school has to offer for your particular field & then decide. If you have a 3.45+ I suggest you go ahead & try to transfer to UT.

Well. I don’t have a low GPA, but I’ve seen people with 3.6 GPA who got rejected from a UT college or being push to another college that is not their first choice (like undergraduate studies or college of liberal art). I want to go UT’s Radio-Film-Television school, if not then would rather go to another university. I don’t have a lot of hope but I will definitely give it a shot.
My back up plan is to go to either Texas State or Texas Tech, which seem more realistic to me.

Texas Tech is typically understood to be one of the next state “tier one” universities along with the University of Houston. This may boost your undergraduate degree’s name recognition in the near future, so I would lean toward Texas Tech if you want to get out of Houston.

Don’t go to Texas Tech and stay away from any smaller city. If you want to work in TV industry you have to get TV internships, so chose a university in a major city with several TV stations.
UH might be better than Texas State.
