Thank you CC!

Hey everyone,

I used to lurk on CC sporadically in the past to look at some random things about universities and SAT preparation, but I never really took anything I read as serious advice. Now joining the community a week or two ago, I can honestly thank CC for a lot of things.

Firstly, I feel like I need to work harder because everyone else on this board as GPA's, EC's, SAT/ACT/SAT II scores, etc that are really competitive and intense. Comparing myself to the others on this board really gives me motivation to step up my own work ethic and continue to work hard (even though school is 3 days away from ending, I'm still much more active in insuring good grades than my friends).

Secondly, CCers just seem to be really helpful for any questions I have, let alone questions other people have. A lot of the questions I have asked have been answered completely, or if they have been asked before, I just search them up- only to find more satisfying answers. It feels nice to see a lot of CCers being friendly and helping each other out.

Thirdly, CC has helped (by a lot) to guide me along my path to get into the college of my choice. From essay advice, to "how to study" advice, to a general breakdown of what universities like and etc, to "chance me" threads. Beforehand, I never really used to know what I should do to make my resume look impressive and good for the college of my choice, and CC has helped me clear that up. The advice I see a lot is "follow your passions!" and if that doesn't help, then there are others who actually list a few things you could do (though in honesty I'm following a lot of my passions when it comes to EC's ;D ).

Fourthly, CC always has new things on its boards that I wouldn't have taken into consideration. As I browse through the boards, I would find threads that would make me go, "good question!" or "I should've thought about that!" The diversity of minds on CC also is something that has helped me a lot.

Fifthly, the combined presence of high school (or even middle school) students, college students (both undergrad and grad), AND parents offers a great deal of variety in advice and opinions. This solidifies any advice given and help offered because of all the different viewpoints of each different age group. You won't just hear advice from fellow students who speculate on what you have trouble on, but you can even get advice fros parents who have, or have a child that has, experienced the very same thing! This helps prevent skewness in the level and accuracy of the help offered.

And if the whole college talk isn't enough, there's even a very active board for high schoolers (like myself) where we relax and discuss many things related to our lives, or even this CC cafe board, where intellectual discussions spur up. A good way to get away from a lot of the academic-related topics on this site.

CC offers me motivation, help in clarifying my goals, and on top of that, as the "cream of the crop," mostly everyone is kind and mature, which attributes to my gratitude to CC.

I'm a proud CCer, and don't regret being active on this community. I hope everyone feels the same! ^^

Thank you CC!!

If you'd like to thank CC as well, do so here! XD

yeah...this is a very informative forum. Thanks CC!

CC is my home

you're welcome.

i speak for CC's moderators, CC's admin, and CC's members. because that's what makes CC, CC.

I love CC.

lol. ur post is what I exactly felt!!!! and i'm a frequent user of CC. I came on this website by accident quite a while ago and I"m really glad that I've stumbled on this site. You're right, this site does give a wealth of information and allow us to exchange ideas or pointers that will definitely help all of us at some point in our lives. :D

Amen, OP! I don't know what I'd do without CC, pathetic as that sounds :D
Even with the crazy overachievers (I once naively thought I was one until I came to CC), there is so much to learn from here. There are few school classmates and friends that share my crazy enthusiasm/anxiousness of the college application process (and more), and this has been a great outlet for me in the last year. Thanks everyone

I completely agree! I would have been SO lost without CC, especially with the college application process. From helping me study for APs, to telling me how to fill out the Common App correctly, to helping me chose the college I'll attend next year, to helping me decide what laptop to buy, CC was the best. Not having an older sibiling or parents really involved in the college application process, CC really saved me. So thank you! :D

I wish I had found this site as a freshman, not so that I could be a part of it, but so that I could have a bar in which to compete against.

But I love CC and it has contributed to higher SAT scores and a higher GPA than any book!

So thank you!

I'm glad everyone is sharing the same amount of enthusiasm as I am! XD

And I agree with adamonkey2, CC is my home as well, XD

Edit: Sorry for my typo's in my original post, it was late at night when I wrote it >_<

CC has been an invaluable resource to me, and I'm not even in my senior year yet! Thanks, CC!

This site has taught me SO much about college admissions. I love to be as informed as possible so it is great for me to have such a wealth of information. The people here may be totally overwhelming, but they are extremely helpful...

CC = motivator to work one's ass off and do the best work possible in school.

I suppose that is both good and bad.

CC ftw. :D

I can safely say that if I hadn't found CC at the end of sophomore year, I wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell at my dream university. I go to a dreadfully mediocre public school, so NO ONE tells us about the competition we're facing to go anywhere other than our extremely mediocre state school, which is a mile from our high school (and I'm not a URM, so colleges don't care that no one ever expected me to achieve anything). CC let (and lets) me know each day how much I have to do to overcome where I come from; I would not know what AP classes are if it wasn't for CC (my school is that bad. Even though I know what they are now, it doesn't enable me to take them.). Thank you CC.

is this some kind of college admission's essay?

I really regret the fact that I found CC after my senior year was over, and most of my college stuff had already been done by then. I can say for sure that if I'd found it earlier, my entire future would have been different. Nevertheless, thank you, CC, because you've really, really been better than any counselor anyone could get. :)

lawl

"how posting on college confidential changed my life"

Noo >_<

It's not a college admissions essay, lol..If it was I wouldn't have written it in ten minutes, at late night, and with typo's :P

It's nice to read everyone's experience with CC. If I had found it in the beginning of freshman year, I would've used it as my total guideline to get into my dream school. XD

CC is set as my standard (which I can't meet atm)
