Hey everyone,

I used to lurk on CC sporadically in the past to look at some random things about universities and SAT preparation, but I never really took anything I read as serious advice. Now joining the community a week or two ago, I can honestly thank CC for a lot of things.

Firstly, I feel like I need to work harder because everyone else on this board as GPA's, EC's, SAT/ACT/SAT II scores, etc that are really competitive and intense. Comparing myself to the others on this board really gives me motivation to step up my own work ethic and continue to work hard (even though school is 3 days away from ending, I'm still much more active in insuring good grades than my friends).

Secondly, CCers just seem to be really helpful for any questions I have, let alone questions other people have. A lot of the questions I have asked have been answered completely, or if they have been asked before, I just search them up- only to find more satisfying answers. It feels nice to see a lot of CCers being friendly and helping each other out.

Thirdly, CC has helped (by a lot) to guide me along my path to get into the college of my choice. From essay advice, to "how to study" advice, to a general breakdown of what universities like and etc, to "chance me" threads. Beforehand, I never really used to know what I should do to make my resume look impressive and good for the college of my choice, and CC has helped me clear that up. The advice I see a lot is "follow your passions!" and if that doesn't help, then there are others who actually list a few things you could do (though in honesty I'm following a lot of my passions when it comes to EC's ;D ).

Fourthly, CC always has new things on its boards that I wouldn't have taken into consideration. As I browse through the boards, I would find threads that would make me go, "good question!" or "I should've thought about that!" The diversity of minds on CC also is something that has helped me a lot.

Fifthly, the combined presence of high school (or even middle school) students, college students (both undergrad and grad), AND parents offers a great deal of variety in advice and opinions. This solidifies any advice given and help offered because of all the different viewpoints of each different age group. You won't just hear advice from fellow students who speculate on what you have trouble on, but you can even get advice fros parents who have, or have a child that has, experienced the very same thing! This helps prevent skewness in the level and accuracy of the help offered.

And if the whole college talk isn't enough, there's even a very active board for high schoolers (like myself) where we relax and discuss many things related to our lives, or even this CC cafe board, where intellectual discussions spur up. A good way to get away from a lot of the academic-related topics on this site.

CC offers me motivation, help in clarifying my goals, and on top of that, as the "cream of the crop," mostly everyone is kind and mature, which attributes to my gratitude to CC.

I'm a proud CCer, and don't regret being active on this community. I hope everyone feels the same! ^^

Thank you CC!!

If you'd like to thank CC as well, do so here! XD
