Thank You KPMOM

Thanks again for all the mom hugs and support you hand out to the students!
I heard from a little bird that you literally made 100's of cookies for the students Thursday after the Mets game and you do this each Thursday. Let it be known we are aware you do that for the love of the kids out of your own pocket!

I also hear from many that the highlight of their weeks is getting to hang out with Quest Mom and Dad.

Just wanted to let you know our kids love you and we do too. Thank you again for being there!

Double That Thank You To Kpmom!!! :) :) :)

Thanks for the compliments. But it is so much fun working with your sons and daughters. My own six kids are grown, so now I have lots of kids. I feel like I'm full time at the academy. I have a Midshipmen Women's Bible study on Thursday mornings, bake from 12:30-5pm in the kitchen at Land Hall "Cookie Cafe", with streams of students coming in for hot cookies and cold glasses of milk. Sunday mornings we leave the house at 7am to pick up the bagels coming out of the bakery, and drive down for a Bible Class, with the first half an hour being a "Chat and Chew" time, where I have home baked fruitbreads, cinnabons, and lots of things. The students pig out, and don't feel so lonesome any more. Then my husband teaches and answers their questions about the Bible to over 50 students each Sunday morning. For indoc Sundays and all but one Sunday in August he has been leading the services and preaching (he's ordained), until the protestant navy chaplain arrives. It's amazing what volunteers are asked to do. This Sunday we are planning a barbecue for the midshipmen after chapel, last Sunday it was a picnic on the lawn with midshipmen.

Gals, we borrow your kids for 4 years. We are there for them, have them in our home where they hike, canoe, bike, and eat homecooking. We guide them, advise them, love them, scold them when they start going wrong. My husband and son graduated from KP and we've always had KPer's in our home, so we know their world. Then we proudly watch your son/daughter graduate and go back to you as mature adults that you and we are so impressed with. We have the fun of remaining long term friends with them.

So you see, I'm just having fun, and I love your sons and dauthers.

i speak from experience, going to KPMOM's house is an amazing way to spend a weekend. we've packed that place full of so many kids it's almost scary, but it's always an amazing place to be. full of love, laughs, and good memories! thanks for everything momma!

Oh my, the pollen is affecting me... Again so blessed to have the clergy & their families aboard...As Kipling wrote (or Prouddad2010 would have said it)...

"If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!"

Nice PJMom. Very very nice.

And how in the world does KPMom fit that big heart of hers into just one body? There can't be room for much else in there! :)

Yes KPMPM my son said he went over there today for 1st time. Said it was great! Thanks so much :)

Sorry KPMOM. Fingers are tired

You write about thanking me and saying all kinds of nice things that don't need to be said, I'm just having fun, and love the students. The real hero is my husband.

At 7 am on Sunday mornings he's carrying all my coolers, tables, supplies for the Bible class. He drives the 42 miles to KP, then sets everything up, turns on music the students like, and chats with fellows who need advice. He then teaches Bible Class, runs upstairs, leads the service and preaches. Often in the afternoon, he takes students to diners to get to know them.

Monday-Friday, he commutes 2 1/2 hours a day to a demanding job, so he can support what we do, since we are totally volunteers. He comes home to a quick dinner, so he can prepare his Bible Class and sermons every evening, and get the bulletin ready.

Thursday mornings, 7 am again, he loads the car for me, for the Midshipmen Women's Bible study and the Cookie Cafe. The minivan is full , and he never complains, even in the evening when he unloads the car. He also, is a great listener when I tell him about the fun things at the Cookie Cafe, on the way home.

This weekend he does the run to the academy for a midshipman, then to Kennedy Airport to pick up the girlfriend, so we can chaperone a fun weekend for them in our home, he never complains.

Saturdays, we walk around the lake and he spends the rest of the day finishing off his talks. Then it's 7am Sunday morning again........

So who is the hero???? not me!!!! We've been married 40 wonderful years, and he is absolutely what every gal wishes to have in a husband. I am madly in love with my best friend, and plan to keep him forever.

We are going to teach a series on "Marriage Christian Style". Do you think we know anything about it?

I have to get this in before he sees what I wrote. He's such a humble person he would erase it. But he is the real hero in so much of what is going on in the chapel program.

yeah, dad really is an incredible man. he's got so much knowledge about not only church related things, but about the industry. i love hearing his sea stories and about how life was when he was at KP back in the day. basically both mom and dad amaze me. i love you guys!

Thank you KPMOM and the Mr. too. My son will be there tomorrow - thanks for hugging him and encouraging him to the both of you! I am sure there is a special place reserved in heaven for people like you! Thanks again.

A big thanks to Dad Guest...Don't want to leave you out!!! Thank you for being such a great male role model for our sons. We hear so many stories of questionable behavior of sailors that is nice to know there can be exceptions to the rule. Thank you for helping teach our sons be the exception not the rule.
