I know there is a train track that runs by Grinnell and while I was there for a campus visit a train came by. The tour guide told me that the train came by a few times a day... Does anyone attending find that annoying? Not that I was particularly annoyed but it, but if I had to hear a train going by (and it was rather loud) every day for four years, I'm not sure how I'd handle that. Clearly that's not a main concern as I love what the college has to offer so far, but I'm just curious.

Unless you live on East Campus, you'll be unlikely to hear it. Even then, I didn't hear any complaints from the people I was staying with in East. Seriously, did you note the size of that field? It was huge.

Jumping on the train is one of the 3 expellable offenses! The other 2 are climbing on the academic buildings (dorms are ok) and going into the steam vents (heated sidewalks..ooooooh).

haha that's awesome. thank you!

My son lived on North last year and in East (the new dorms) this year. No complaints about the train. You students who are applying now are lucky - early in your stay at Grinnell, the new student center will be done. It's going to be beautiful and will really help to pull the north, south and east campus areas together. (Altho I do think it's interesting that many students don't like the modern design.) The new fitness facility is going to be finished this year too.
