“Ronald O. Perelman and Debra G. Perelman announced that the Perelman Family Foundation is making the lead gift to establish a new residential college at Princeton University. The construction of Perelman College will advance one of Princeton’s highest strategic priorities — the expansion of the undergraduate population by around 10 percent.”
does this 10% increase apply to the class of 2023? if so that’d be super awesome haha
Princeton is planning on increasing the undergraduate body incrementally by 125 students with each new class for the total increase of 500 in 4 years. I do not know when the increase will start, but I’m sure they will not admit more students until the new residential college is constructed and ready to accommodate them.
I’d guess at least 3 years minimum as construction hasn’t started though the location on campus and architects are in place.
that makes sense. thank you
From another source, Princeton Alumni Weekly: ‘"Debra Perelman said the new residential college will help the University meet one of its highest priorities’: “to provide diversity on campus, specifically economic diversity, by increasing class size.”’ Ronald Perelman added that “people of all backgrounds and communities deserve access to the extraordinary education and training offered by Princeton.”’
Judging by this statement, the increase in the undergraduate body is being targeted as opposed to random.
Looking back to the last time Princeton had expanded its undergrad student body, specifically from the time of the trustees’ approval in 2000 to the actual implementation of its first incrementally increased enrollment, it took about 5 years. These things take a long time.
