We're pretty much the same. Although I normally get 9s on my essays, w/ those MC scores you would do fine w/ 6's and 7's on the Essays. Don't go for mediocrity though. Aim high ;)

We're allowed to bring watches right? I think I'll just glance at it once in awhile.

MCs are ughhh especially with the passages from earlier centuries.. those confuse me so much.

The only thing I'm looking forward to is the open ended essay...

Depending on the proctor, you should be allowed to bring watches. Make sure, though, not to bring one that makes noises.

Haha APDoolittle I just realized that I still have a lot of cramming to do lol and neither my essay nor my MC is good :(

ApDolittle: I'm positive that I will score higher than a 2. I just haven't prepared at all (we didn't even talk about the test in class) other than doing practice MC questions from last year which were on collegeboard.com. I got 46/49 on the MC, and I am a very good writer (800 on SAT writing, but that was more grammar than writing). I just don't see a point in taking the test when it serves no purpose. Why would I want to write three essays when I don't have to?

.....Personal satisfaction, to know that you are on par w/ college students and your fellow collegebound peers?

Yeah, I know it sucks that most schools are cheap w/ credit/placement for AP Eng. Lang. :( but what can ya do?

Haha, as our final writing assingment before the exam, our teacher gave us 2 options. We could either write a narrative of the day of the exam (everything that happens JUST before and DURING). Our other option was to write a letter to the College Board about what we think of the AP Exam. Haha, I chose the latter and wrote a hilarious letter! It's such a satirical riot! When I get it back (and if I remember), I'll post it on CC.

Good luck everyone! Ok, I'm out b/c I have to finish cramming!

-Jon :D

I'm already confident that I'm on par with everyone else. ;) Plus, my score won't be reflective (no matter how I do), because unlike everyone else, I didn't study or practice. Well, good luck!

Difference between parallel structure and anaphora?

Haha, you may have a point there. Try your best anyway ;) and thanks!

Ok, on to '5 Steps to a 5: Writing the AP English Essay'! :D Later!

Good luck everyone and don't be too stressed out. : D

waddles off to take a practice exam

haha.. ya, i should have a little more "faith", like my name says.. blah sometimes i think i should get a diff username for cc.. lolol cuz im so not faithful.. well.. for AP exams anyway.. blah blah.. the bane of my existence. .. yupp same here.. off to 5 steps to a 5..

Anaphora is the same phrase at the beggining of several clauses.

I pulled this quote:
"We are a people in a quandary about the present. We are a people in search of our future. We are a people in search of a national community."

-- Barbara Jordan, 1976 Democratic Convention Keynote Address
Notice how each sentance begins with the same phrase.

Here is an example of parallel structure:
The production manager was asked to write his report quickly, accurately, and thoroughly.
Notice how the verbs end in LY and are related. Quickly, Accurately, Thoroughly.

flips out

Man. I really hope I get a five. I took a couple of practice tests and I keep scoring a four because of my multiple choice.

If you are worried about getting a 4 instead of a 5, well, you really shouldn't be.

My "teacher" has the mental depth of mayo! She wouldn't comment on our papers or anything; she just gave us 4 or 5 essays a week! Then again, she felt happy when she beat more than 2 ppl in the class on MC.

ahhhh i'm so nervous!!!

haha yeah that's really all i had to say...
glad i got that out

back to princeton review now

when are u guys planning on sleeping?

Okay, then what is the difference between tricolon, and anaphora. Your first example looks to be a tricolon.

dude, you're thinking too hard. tricolon will not be on the ap test, and if it is on, there will be multiple choice answers that are different.

what is the difference between rhetorical strategies and rhetorical devices? for the essay prompts i mean

same thing
