that made me die a little inside

guys, i just got back from northwestern..WHAT A GORGEOUS SCHOOL! And yeah, the weather is ***ly cold, I seriously have never felt a biting cold like that *EVER!

glad you liked it XD. and hope if you get in, you come

any new englanders who can give me a perspective on how much colder NU is than boston?

I used to spend a lot of time in New England. As far as average temperture goes, they are about the same (according to historic weather data). Boston is more snowy. I think Chicago is more windy though I am not 100% sure on this.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I have gone to NEw England in the winter; it's comparable to Pittsburgh, if not nearly exact. NU is so freaking cold that it bites you everywhere your skin is exposed; actually, it's so cold that my mom and i started cracking up as soon as we got off the airport transit bus because it was almost surreal that there could be a cold like this. 5 minutes later, we were not laughing and rather frantically trying to find a place to hop into.

for jeremybeach, these past two weeks were probably the worst weeks to visit northwestern. i live about 10 miles from campus and i cant remember it being this cold for this many days (consistently -15 with wind chill) and I have lived close to the campus all my life. i wouldnt use the day u visited as a good example of typical NU weather. but i agree, it is freakin cold here right now. brrrrrrrrrrrrr... however, chicago is great in the summer and this year december was very mild as well. i have no idea how it became so cold.

as i said before, this is breaking the cold record from 1996. last year, i visited around now, and it was like 40

Does it snow a lot in evanston? Cold without snow is a waste.. So please tell me yes! How much do you guys get on average?

They don't call Chicago The Windy City for nothing. Not only is it cold but yes it's WINDY. So if it's 10 degrees out (cold but New Englanders can identify), when the wind shoots passed you at 20 miles an hour, it really feels like -- oh, I don't know -- minus 5??

And Oh yes, there is snow. Oh boy, is there snow. Lots and lots of snow.

During my four years there, I've never been so cold in my life. And I live in New England.

"During my four years there, I've never been so cold in my life. And I live in New England"

Very Happy, was it worth it?

I know this has been an exceptionally cold year, but really...

Well, I went to Northwestern back before global warming, when dinosaurs roamed the earth . . . In the late '60s.

[WOW!!]

It's a very well-respected university, and I think I've been able to do what I've done in no small part to the reputation of the school.

It's a brutal winter, it's a wind-chill winter with below 0 in the double digits...is it a LONG winter? How are the fall and spring and, oh why not, the summers, please?

fall seemed to be about 2-3 weeks, and then it kind of dropped. first time it snowed was around oct 11th or so, then it went back up to the 60's in nov-ish, and snowed again the week before break, and ever since it's been freezing. supposedly summer's supposed to be really really hot but i havent been here long enough to say

^^correct on all counts but since summer ended, the weather cycle has been kinda weird so idk. its tough just to go warm up the car right now.

Doh... It hasnt snowed much at all here in Connecticut.. Last year we got about 3 feet in total.. This time, we've had 3 inches in total!! :( Expecting a storm this tuesday but I doubt it'll amount to much.. Infact, it was the 70's here in mid January!!!!!!!!!! Global warming, I tell ya! ;)

Spring here is REALLY beautiful

Summer is nice too. There's a sailing center on the lakefront where you can take sailing/windsurfing lessons.

Fall is like cool weather, usually the nicest time of the year until winter. Winter isn't typically as bad as the past few weeks, all through December and early January it was actually really warm for winter. Spring it rains a lot and can be 60's one week and snowing the next, but its usually really nice. Summer is nice too, but it can get very hot and humid. That's what people say about Chicago, cold winters hot summers.

haha I'm sure northwestern is unbelievable in the spring/summer (not that it isn't during winter) since every building has a multitude of vines all over them!
