1) The honor code
2) [mudders/hopefuls insert yours here]

1) The honor code
2) The incredibly close interaction and relationships between students and faculty. One of my physics professors got me cupcakes for my birthday. Another flew all the way to London to set up a video conference/interview for one of his students that was competing for the Apker Award (a prestigious undergrad physics award). I dare you to find a school where the professors are that genuinely caring.

1) The honor code
2) The people - everybody that I met while visiting campus was extremely nice and helpful, and oh! so happy! =)

A related-type question: what is the worst part of HMC?
(yes, yes, yes, it sounds pessimistic, but I find it helps)

Best:
1) The honor code
2) The incredibly close interaction and relationships between students and faculty. One of my physics professors got me cupcakes for my birthday. Another flew all the way to London to set up a video conference/interview for one of his students that was competing for the Apker Award (a prestigious undergrad physics award). 3) The people - everybody that I met while visiting campus was extremely nice and helpful, and oh! so happy! =)
4) Intelligent, and hopefully nerdy, girls

Worst:
1) Cost

Best (in no particular order).
1) Close Friendships : I'm still very close friends with the the friends I made at Mudd...and we all graduated 6 years ago.

2) That you can easily escape Mudd: oxymoron, you ask? As great as Mudd is, sometimes you just gotta get a different scene, vibe. One of Mudd's greatest strengths is that you can take classes and meet people from any of the other colleges in Claremont.

3) Honor Code: yes, it actually works (almost all of the time). It is nice to be treated like a responsible adult.

4) Academics/profs: absolutely top-notch teaching. Very few, if any colleges/universities can match Mudd in this respect. Education you get at Mudd is second to none.

Worst:
Lots of late nights cranking out hw problems. This can be partially offset by 2am strawberry donut or churro runs.

I don't go to HMC, but from what I hear, the best part of being at HMC (over all other tech schools) is just South of the campus, across the street.

THAT lies south of the west end actually. HMC is long so just saying south does not single it down enough. For comparison, my ex-girlfriend lives south of the east end.

heh. yeah, my gf goes to scripps... pretty much exactly south, 150 ft from my room. :)

(Very entertained um...southern-dwelling student here. The appreciation is mutual :p)

Another good thing about Harvey Mudd...

good dining halls are a 2 minute walk away.

Alright well since we have abandoned the original intended format I will just go willy-nilly.

I will deal with food for now:
Blue fin sushi across Foothill on the NE end is awesome sushi and japanese food at great prices.
The village just to the SW has a great assortment of restaurants/bakeries/etc.
You can chose whichever of the 5 CCs you get to dine at.
The Mudd Hole, not great but very good for late-night options.

I think I know too much about Mudd for a non-attender.

I went to Blue Fin Sushi yesterday for the second time since I came to Mudd. I tried the baked lobster roll as Seiken suggested on another thread. It was DELICIOUS! I think I am going to visit it more often...I might even ditch dinner at the dining hall tonight to go have some more sushi.

WORST PART OF HMC: THE ADMINISTRATION!!! ARGH!

don't ask.

BEST:

Take home exams.
