I’ve seen a few of the other forums with these…ahem, Yale…and I figure we could use a regular one as well, now that the Forum is dying down, with regular decision released a while ago, early decisions released what seems like eons ago, and with official decisions before they start going to the waitlist due tomorrow.

So how are we all doing?

I finished High School Classes today… so pumped.

Starting to really feel more like a Brown student than a high school student.

you’re done?! i’m so jealous. i mean, i guess tomorrow is my last day of non-chaotic class, since the next two weeks are APs and the one after is finals.

yeah, i’m ridiculously excited about brown. it’s just that i have to get through APs first. aaaaaaaaaargh.

Or at least that’s what I tell myself, because there’s only so much usable credit I can get out of them. I kind of had an unfortunate schedule this year, which is why I wasted away in Economics. That exam’s the day after our actual graduation ceremonies, too, so it’s just not going to well.

Aren’t APs basically useless at Brown? I guess you can use them to skip up to 200 level courses in some areas, but I’ve heard that there are many placement tests (easier than the APs) that you can take in the first week of schools that allow you to do the same…

I plan on taking a nap through at least one of mine. :x

Yeah, English flat-out doesn’t count, and they’re kind of sketchy on ones relating to your major, I think, and since there’s no core, there’s not really any motivation to place out of courses you won’t be taking anyway.

Plus apparently it’s fairly easy to get moved into the higher level courses anyway.

uh huh, they don’t really matter, and i tell myself that i don’t care – but it’s sort of an ego thing. i don’t want my teachers to lose respect for me if i don’t do well.

Amadeuic, you’re not a blondish looking non-white guy, are you?
Anyway, I guess I’m the only one who completely liberated myself from taking any APs this year? I’m feeling very mellow, very Brown-like. But all the best courses are filled for next year! Wish I’d committed to Brown when I could still preregister… >:(

When classes are “full” they’re not necessarily full. People pre-register for courses that are often drastically different than what they eventually take.

Drastically.

Some APs are quite useful, more so in sciences than in other areas and they do give you placement credit. Not into 2000 courses, those are graduate level classes folks.

For you, sure.
Wish I was you… although I shouldn’t complain. Between the fact that I’m not taking TAKS, freed myself from the stress tumor that is AP season, and am exempt from all my finals… I should basically not even be going to school. But I’m already going to court for truancies, so I have no room to mess up attendance wise… :s I’m becoming a juvenile delinquent…
