(GK1, who started BS as a STEM kid, just confessed that both the Psych and English major options are seriously on the table for college apps. Oh the transformations…)
@chemmchimney: Most of the cadets ditch the costume uniforms at graduation either leaving them in their rooms or stuffing them into the garbage cans (no kidding) on their way out. We told our son to bring all of his home. We will have them cleaned and store them for sentiment if nothing else. They cost a fortune. There are 63 gold-plated buttons on the gray wool Nutcracker jacket alone. But he’ll never wear it again.

The one he was fitted for is suitable for all formal events, including his own wedding (should that ever occur). But there is one uniform above this one called the “mess dress” that is the military’s version of a tuxedo. We told him that if he wants that one, he can order it and consider it a graduation gift from us.
