I have a classmate who wants to transfer to UM as a Junior from Miami-Dade College. His academic credentials are very good. However, he has a criminal record for sexually molesting a girl under the age of 18. Thus, he is registered as a sex offender. He succeeded in moving forward with his life. Would his criminal record cause the admission committee to reject his application into UM: College of Liberal Arts and Sciences?</p>

<p>It will impact his application, since college admissions do not ask questions,
“Have you ever committed a crime…” as a joke. He should have a great explanation for his offenses to convince that he has changed. Yet that doesn’t mean the admission committee will automatically reject “his” application.</p>
