Is anyone else watching the Lions get destroyed by the Falcons? It's kinda sad...

lol, Litespeed. They do have an cheaper bike, but i think it's around $1,500 still. Most Litespeeds are around $5,000. Yay full titanium frames!!

For road bikes, a few more names that pop into my head are Fuji, Felt, Bianchi

i would assume that mountain biking/free riding would be the most fun at cornell because there are lots of hills and different terrains...

but which type of riding is the safest.. i want to be in one piece since i havnt touched a bike in years. i definately dont want to start off doing downhill. mayb ill get a bmx and try to find some jumps to hit.

i think id feel most comfortable with a mountain bike because i had this dream where i was going really fast in a roadie and the bike just twisted and i went face first to the ground and then got run over by a car.. this was when i was 10 :)

haha. well any type of biking can be dangerous at the serious level. Riding at 40 mph around curves downhill on a sub 20 lb bike doesn't sound any safer than taking a bike off a 15' drop to a 50 degree incline transition/landing. However, both facets of the sport can me done in more moderate ways.

You're really not likely to have your bike crumple on the road. The dangers of road riding are losing control at speed, and cars. Riding at a slower more enjoyable pace on safe roads minimizes this risk.

Similarly, you can make mountain biking as extreme as you want. XC style mountain biking is pretty safe in terms of physical trauma. Your "big risks" are, in the worst case scenario type of thing, falling and spraining/breaking an ankle or something. (assuming of course you wear a helmet for your serious riding, which you should. I don't wear a helmet oftentimes when i'm shooting into the downtown of my suburban town because I--in addition to probably being foolish--consider myself a good rider, and find it very unlikely that anything is going to happen that's bad. When I go "riding" however, I ALWAYS wear a helmet. There are a couple instances in which it has saved me extensive head damage) You can also do more dangerous "freeriding" where you ride over things like this: http://www.pinkbike.com/modules/photo/?op=view&image=394081, but that can start small with little jumps and stuff. you can also do urban freeride which is well, pretty self explanatory, but looks like this among other things: http://www.pinkbike.com/modules/photo/?op=view&image=362983

you can ride BMX in ithaca skatepark, but i prefer an urban bike over bmx...it's kind of like SUPER BMX haha.
