The College Admissions Journey of an "Average" ORM

WOW congratulations!!!
Did you get Regents at any UC? (Just curious - it’s a really big deal).
Sounds like you’re leaning toward UVA.

@MYOS1634 No hahaha but it’s okay. I’m OOS so I wasn’t even expecting to get in.

I have a question. So on my applications I had indicated that I was going to get SUNY Albany credit for my AP French class. I decided not to pay for the credit and just take my chances with the AP exam. I’m still in the class, though. Will this be a problem?

No, as long as you get a actor of 3-5 (college’s I’ll decide Whether the score is higher enough)

@MYOS1634 What I meant that I will have a discrepancy between my SUNY transcript and what I indicated on my application. Should I let my colleges know that I decided not to pay for the credit?

No, it won’t matter. You can let the colleges know but they won’t care.

@MYOS1634 Okay, thank you!

Accepted to USC. Private schools don’t hate me!!!

   Congratulations!
Wow, lots of good choices.

Accepted to CMU’s Tepper School of Business. Yay!

Congratulations ! Now you have a lot of choices

Congratulations! You have so many great options so far!!

To anyone worried about typos in college essays: I just reread my USC essays. I called coffee “not a drink”. What I meant was “not a food” and they still accepted me. So don’t sweat little typos like that!

@emilyskates Congrats on all of your acceptances! Any idea of where you want to go?

@class0f2017 Right now, my top choices are UC Berkeley and UVa. I prefer Berkeley (I visited and I LOVED it), but the four year graduation rate is terrifyingly low compared to UVa’s. I know people who go to Berkeley and they’ve talked about how they couldn’t get into classes sometimes. I can’t afford a 5th year of tuition without resorting to loans.

Rejected Columbia and Dartmouth. Waitlisted Cornell. Accepted NYU.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Now that all decisions are in, can you list each acceptance you’re considering (or all of them), along with their net price?

@MYOS1634 I’m only really considering Berkeley and UVA right now. Carnegie Mellon is way too expensive and I don’t really like Michigan. I love NYU, but I can’t afford it. I only got a $1000 scholarship sooooo yeah.

Very good choices :). Did you get Regents/Honors, any LLC you really like at either one…?

I think UVa is your best choice, particularly if you can get into the Business school by jr. year.
