The College Board Tried To Kill My Dog!

Not really. My APUSH teacher says that coming from the south may help one's admissions chances. Would being from Louisiana really help my chances?

Depends on the school you are applying to.

Somewhat. If the college you’re applying to is looking for diversity in its student body and there are not many students from the South or Louisiana… then that may give you a bit of an edge, assuming that you’re qualified for that certain school.

One of the best “get your attention titles” I’ve seen in a long time. Bravo.

What do you mean by “bit of an edge”?

^^ I agree. lol

If you have the same stats as the average applicants, being from the South may be the factor that gets you in, if the school looking to add diversity to their campus and not many students from the South apply.

Take what I say with a grain of salt though. I’m only a high school senior.

Being from an underrepresented state is a slight boost at Ivy League and similar schools. It’s slight and you still have to be very qualified, but it can help.

Geographic diversity won’t help you much in the admissions process if you’re looking at Ivies and other top colleges. Because they’re so prestigious, they get immense numbers of applicants from all around the country. Being from the South will probably help more in northern colleges that are less well known.

haha great thread title…and as the other posters said depending on the colleges you’re looking at it could help

hmm… interesting
