My interests lie in Engineering and specifically with Renewable energy such as Solar.
I just finished high school this year and will be applying to colleges after my gap year.
Now,what major should I fill in ? Environmental? Mechanical? or I'm so confused.

But it is Solar and I know it :) :D
Thanks for your help in advance!!!

Electrical or Mechanical are both fine. There are not many programs that feature renewable energy at the B.S. level. You can probably take electives and pursue a graduate degree in that area but the starting point should be from a recognizable engineering discipline. This will give you the flexibility to find jobs in a lot of areas if you can’t find the exact one you want.

You might, however, look into schools that have strong interdisciplinary research programs in renewable energy so you can get involved in projects and gain the experience you want for your career. if you look at those universities, you can see which major is more appropriate. At my institution, Illinois Institute of Technology, the [IIT Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research](Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (WISER) | Illinois Institute of Technology) has a lot of electrical (power) engineering but also mechanical and chemical engineering as well as physics and chemistry.
