My dd has Seton Hall on her list, as a safety school but a good one. We are from OOS and aware that it can be a bit of a commuter school but still feel the value, location, and overall possibilities are good there.
One thing we REALLY think is weird is the university-issued laptop. My dd has always had Macs, and does art on hers, and uses MeMail, though she uses Chrome on her mac for whatever reason. We just don’t understand why, in this day and age they’d be FORCED to use university-issued computers. We think that is a strange infringement on personal rights and choice.
Perhaps 15 years ago when many students did not have a laptop, but really needed to be brought “up to speed” on computer use, this would have been a state of the art program, ensuring that all students became quickly computer literate.
Now, it’s more like forcing my adult daughter to only wear a certain brand of clothes, or only use a certain brand of phone, but worse since you have to do your work on it and communicate, sometimes of a personal nature, on your laptop.
Can the students just use their own?
