What are the differences? Or are they largely similar?

I also posted this in the Columbia forum, but thought I might get some different perspectives here. :)

The Core is kind of an experience. It’s also incredibly diverse, while still bringing together every student at UChicago into the same dialogue.
I’ve taken Hume (Humanities - I took Human, Being and Citizen), SOSC (Social Science - and my choice was Self, Culture and Society), and plan to study Civilizations in Paris in the Fall. Not everyone has to take the same classes, but we all study the same disciplines. You can find more information here: https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/academics/core.shtml

My favorite thing about the Core is that I can be reading Freud in the library, or Marx, or Smith, and someone opposite me has dissected the same text - often from a completely different perspective. The Core only takes up about 1/3 of your time at the College, too. I’m a second-year and I only have one Bio class left!

Awesome, thanks! I, personally, really like the idea of the Core. It sounds really great.
