You guys are all so bright and talented!
But yes, I feel there is no way I am getting an acceptance letter…I am so scared that I may have done one thing wrong, like a grammatical error in my essay, and then I am screwed… I mean, do you seriously need a perfect application to get in?!

^
Of course not! I’m sure there are many people that get into Dartmouth regardless of a few small mistakes in their application.

No matter what happens, though I am sure you will all get in, I am glad that I was able to converse with such nice people despite the intensely competitive situation we are all in. Dartmouth’s prospectives have amazing character. :)

I’m really not within range for Dartmouth. I messed up too much of my underclassmen years to be a strong candidate. My SATs aren’t overwhelming great either, probably average for the Dartmouth accepted.

^
Same–my act/sat are just normal for dartmouth applicants.

Justbeinghonest, I agree. And I’m glad we’re all nice people. It makes me want to attend Dartmouth even more!

I have been lurking for quite some time and decided to join the forums to post my ED decision tomorrow to add to the data Can’t wait!

I was thoughtfully deferred until April. How about you guys?

^same
10char

I’ve been hearing a rumour that only like 10% of the applicants were deferred as opposed to 1/3 (roughly 30%)?

where’d you hear that? because i really want it to be true

whoa really? 10% can we back that up because that would be amazing…

I think there’s confusion about how many were deferred because one article somewhere from 2013 or 2014 says they deferred 9% but all the official stuff says they defer about a third. The one third makes sense to me if you put yourselves in their position: they prolly got rid of the definite rejections which got them down to about 1000 people. That gives them their “real” pool. They take the people they need from that and defer the rest. That works out to a third. I really think this is how they do it b/c it is a “positive” way to do it. They aren’t axing you once you make the cut, just picking what they want and need from that pool. I think they do the same thing for RD and that’s why they ended up waitlisting 1000 kids last year. The waitlist is the deferred of the RD. My guess is they will cull the RD pool down to 1500 b/c they need 600, not 400, and they will waitlist 900 or 1000.
I wanna know if the deferred just sit in a pile to get a look at the end or if they get put back in unflagged?

I have an AI of 218. Is that definite rejection from Dartmouth? Cuz I was rejected. No other part of my app was terribly weak either.
