Oh man, I wish Dartmouth would tell us what date we can expect our admissions decision! I am so ridiculously nervous! What are you guys doing to help you cope with the anxiety?!

pranam, you have nothing to be nervous about. haha

I’m freaking out, too. Thankfully, like I V, I have school/EC’s/work that are keeping me occupied. Well, not super occupied–I find myself checking CC more often lately…

^Same dude. it’s aweful. i honestly dont mind tests, but it is all the papers / lab reports, etc. that just kill me. 2 hours of sleep last night; ■■■. oh well, it will be much more relaxed after christmas break i think, since 1st semester ends soon after that.

Though I have finals coming up really soon, school is at a lull for me right now. I never knew four AP classes and a college math course could yield such little work. I guess that after taking 11 AP courses, they don’t seem difficult anymore…Oh well, at least extracurricular-wise, things are pretty busy! Now that we are done with ZERO Robotics, finishing as national finalists, we are currently doing some astrobiology research for NASA with perchlorate salts! It’s pretty cool! And of course, the cello is going well…Too many competitions and orchestras! haha.
But really, all I can think about is this decision! I am so nervous, so excited, so anxious…so many feelings at once! College Confidential has definitely been my website of choice for the past few months! haha.

^CC can be really informative/etc., but like all things, it should be done in moderation.

Which perchlorate salts in particular; we did ions/naming in AP Chem a few months back, and I couldn’t resist identifying perchlorate: ClO4 (1- in charge). What metal cations are bonded to the perchlorate in the salts you are studying?

Yes, I shall try to be a bit less obsessive! haha.
We are working with Mg(ClO4)2, NaClO4, and KCl04. A private lab in Phoenix identified what they believed to be Mg(ClO4)2 on Mars, so we are running tests on the freezing point depression of the salt when mixed with water to determine if this could be an indicator for water’s liquid presence on the Martian surface! NASA asked us to do this experiment for them, so it’s pretty cool to have this opportunity! :)

Decided to skim through the forums from the past few years. In the past, decisions have been released on…

In 2004: 12/09/2004 (Thursday)
In 2005: 12/08/2005 (Thursday)
In 2006: 12/08/2006 (Friday)
In 2007: 12/12/2007 (Wednesday)
In 2008: 12/10/2008 (Wednesday)
In 2009: 12/08/2009 (Tuesday)

It might mean nothing at all, but I found it interesting.

The days of the week seem not to matter. One might assume that the admissions office would purposely choose to release decisions on a Friday and then immediately close shop in order to avoid a barrage of emails and phone calls from disappointed parents and students, but that does not seem to be the case. We can reasonably expect, however, that we’ll know of our decision within 4 to 8 days. Holy ****.

The Dartmouth Admissions Office is not open on the weekends, I don’t believe. Thus, it would probably make the most sense for them to send the email out tomorrow, the 6th, and release decisions on the Friday, the 10th. :)

Based on the past, they have rarely released of Fridays. Looking at all previous information, I predict the 9th or 10th. I don’t think they’ll come out of the 11th/12th or even next week - all the ivies (that offer ED) have had a significant jump in applicants, and they are still revealing decisions this week, so Dartmouth is almost obligated to.

Penn had 3,851 applicants last year and has 4,557 this year, and they are releasing decisions on the 10th. So, it makes sense to say we will know the outcome week’s end, but I am starting to think we may actually know by the 9th.
