The earlier, the better?

I am a rising senior this year and I have started the college application process. I plan on applying to my schools using RD [regular decision] which dates range from Dec 15th to February 1st. I will probably be done with all of my applications [all use the Common App], the Common App, the supplements, the payments and sending all of the necessary test scores by the end of the summer or early fall like Sept. Even though the deadlines are so far away, is it okay just to send in a let's say Jan 1 RD deadline on Sept 1? Thanks =]

Its perfectly fine for you to that, though it won’t give you any advantage in the admissions process.

Thanks for the comment, bumping for more opinions =]

Theoretically you could earn more awards and whatnot. I got all my Eagle Scout Palms my senior year so my earlier applications didn’t have those. That being said, I don’t know if they made that much of a difference except they showed I didn’t quit Boy Scouts right after Eagle (which demonstrates my interest in a it to be a little more genuine, I think)
