Thank you @hrh19. Looking forward to this next phase. Reading through this whole thread trying to get up to speed!
Baby Philomena Rose was born 5 - 2 in the evening, perfect and beautiful weighing in at 7 lb. Calm, alert. Happy, content and smart. Thanks for the prayers! Congrats to all the expecting grandparents and wishing for good health for all.
@SOSConcern Big congratulations to you!
Congrats to all the new and expecting grandparents.
We just returned from spending a week with S1, DIL, and GD, who’s just turning 6 months old. She’s become very interactive &, of course, adorable. This was so much better than the video chats we’ve been surviving on since we last saw her in Dec.
Have out of town D and grandkids here for a week. Too much fun! I never get tired of this, truly. Being a grandma is the best. So much joy everyday.
Congratulations @SOSConcern! Welcome to the world Philomena Rose!
Welcome, Philomena Rose!
Congratulations to you and your family, @SOSConcern!
D is having a baby in Sept. Our second grandson as S has a 6 year old.
D has asked me to figure out a stroller system. She found a Graco that has the snap
in baby seat that can go forward and backward which appeals to her.
Thought I would ask the experts here what your thoughts are about strollers.
She will be walking him 4 city blocks from her apartment to his daycare in all types
of weather. She will need to have her work bag and his supplies stowed on it.
Also need to be able to buy extra bases for the carseat so we can have one in our car and
pick him up at times.
I remember H and I going to Penny’s and buying a $40 stroller. Not today!
S & DIL have the Chicco car seat/stroller system. They seem happy with it, but they don’t walk to work so the stroller only gets used for pleasure traveling. They have room in a basket under the seat for the diaper bag. I’m not sure if there’d be room for a work bag in addition.
My November grandbaby is a girl!! We’re pretty excited as we have three sons and one grandson. I won’t know what to do with a little girl! LOL.
What exciting news, @VaBluebird! My good friend had 3 boys and now she has 3 granddaughters!
I have not read through all this thread. I’ll try to go back to do so. I had avoided it because my D had gone through years of infertility and two miscarriages, one particularly traumatic, and things were grim and I hated everyone (not literally ).
BUT, now she is fourteen weeks and everything looks good and we are all over the moon in the Garland family! So I’m looking forward to catching up and being a part of the grandma world! Please excuse my earlier crankiness!
Oh, and she’s due on Thanksgiving, and not going to tell anyone girl or boy, and that’s all fine and great!
Congratulations! @garland I do remember you posting about your daughter’s difficulties and I want to wish you all the best. May the next ~26 weeks go smoothly!
What exciting news, @VaBluebird! My good friend had 3 boys and now she has 3 granddaughters!
@garland, so happy for your family! My second grandchild was born last Thanksgiving morning – a special reason to be extra grateful! Best wishes to all!
And @garland…woo-hoo! So sorry your D has struggled, but what wonderful and happy news! We are going to have a whole new batch of babies come November.
Garland, I recall you mentioning that she’s had a tough time. BTDT, and there’s no denying the sadness, anger and grief. So happy things are going well for her!
I have to say that I get a little excited when I see this thread on the first page – I know there will be some happy news.
@VaBluebird, Congratualtions!! Very exciting!
@oregon101, Congratualtions!! D uses a Graco (Three in One?) stroller for indoors and travel and a Bob Revolution Flex Jogging Stroller for walks outdoors. I really prefer the Bob. Both have pretty big baskets underneath and both are sturdy enough to hold a bag hanging over the handle.
@garland, Wishes coming your way for your D and your family for a healthy baby boy or girl!
GS is fifteen months old and D and SIL are starting to plan for baby #2. I am happy.
Our grand-dau is now one month old, and just as delicious/beautiful/perfect as the day she was born.
DD has a very good car seat and stroller. The car seat is SNUGRIDE 35(click connect). It is very handy. There is a base left in the car, and you just set the car seat on it and it ‘clicks’. There is a red button to push behind the head part of the baby carrier part to release from the base. The car seat is good for 4 lb to 35 lb child and shorter than 32 inches. IDK if there are car seats for larger children that work on the same base.
The 3 wheel stroller is a Graco, but the SNUGRIDE fits in it. I looked to see the model number but it was not readily on the top surface areas and DD didn’t remember - but seeing what is around is helpful. You grab a middle strap and it folds up nicely. Wheels can easily be removed for stashing in smaller car cargo area.
I know I used an umbrella stroller a lot with the kids because it was so compact and easy to push. The low cost item held up for both kids. Back then, I had an expensive buggy that I hardly used.
