The greatest TV show in American history ends on Sunday...

I'm speaking of course, of the Wire.

Any thoughts? I know there has to be a couple of Wire fans here.

never heard of it

ICrisis: I thought you were going to state that The Simpsons was going off the air.

Wow, I was actually worried there for a moment.

Awww, come on guys. It's the Wire. More socially relevant than Oprah, more realistic than the Sopranos, better dialogue than Sex in the City and the season 4 storylines are better than that of the IMDB 250.

I've wanted to watch The Wire but I don't get HBO.

I've seen it. It's not as good as you say, though...

I'd be hard pressed to find a show as good as the Wire made in the last 50 years.

hmm... I've never heard of that show.

We love that show, but see it on Netflix as we don't get HBO. As a matter of fact we're in the middle of last season and will be watching tonight. Then we'll have to wait until the last season comes out on DVD. Terry Gross had an interview with the creator on Fresh Air (NPR) yesterday, anticipating the finale.

LOST .

Lost is nowhere near as good as The Wire. Of the couple episodes of Lost I've seen, compared to the couple episodes of The Wire I've seen, you have no idea.

Lost... No. No idea.

I watch the wire....decency is allowed...

more like I WILLLL watch it

LOST pwns anything else made at LEAST in the last 50 years.
I pity the fool who believes he "gets" LOST from having watched just two episodes or something. I've been following the show since I was 13, and I absolutely love it.

Yeah, "The Wire"... never heard of it, ever. Therefore, it must suck.

I've never seen Lost so I won't comment on it but I highly doubt it is better than the Wire.

For the uninformed, The Wire by looking at the box or watching the promos is just a cop drama. After watching a couple episodes though, it becomes clear that it is so much more than that. The Wire is really an examination of the slow death of the American city over a period of five seasons through the eyes of everyone from the homeless heroin addicts to the inner city school teacher to the blue collar worker. It's brutal, it's honest and at times heart wrenching (Martha: If you're not crying at the end of the 9th episode of season 5, you have no heart).

According to the Las Vegas Sun, Barack Obama's favorite TV show is The Wire...his favorite character...OMAR!

Alright, this thread seems to have generated no hype, much like the original run of the show.

But screw it, I loved the finale, does anyone else have any opinions?
