The HAIL scholarship and my chances of being accepted.

Hi!
I recently applied to the University of Michigan and was invited to receive the HAIL scholarship. This was super exciting news, and I just got my application in last night.
It is a very exciting opportunity, but I am very skeptical of my chances of being accepted. Currently, I have a 3.27 and a score of 1260 on the SAT. These figures are… not good, especially considering I want to get into UofM. However, I have a lot of extracurricular experience under my belt including being the president of our Japanese Culture club, and the team captain on one of my school’s robotics teams. I’ve also spent a lot of my time off of school studying programming, development, and other things I plan on studying while in college. I’ve even done a few community service tasks like being a public speaker at an elementary school where I talked about game development and programming and helping paint buildings with our school art club. I feel as if everything else but my grades are a strong point in my application.

I suppose my question is, are my chances low? And, would they even have sent me an invitation to the hail scholarship if I didn’t have a chance of being accepted? I hope my application bears fruit, but I wanted to come here and maybe have a few others give me their thoughts.

Getting the Hail application doesn’t increase your odds of acceptance. Talk to your counselor about it. Your stats and GPA are low for Michigan which is for LSA 3.9 unweighted with a 32 - 35 Act… But has anyone been accepted to Michigan with those stats or close? You are compared to kids at your school per se
