I am just reading about The Honors, Scholars and Fellows House at FSU. It sounds intriguing, but I am not sure what it will really mean for students, or who will have access to it. I have been looking at Florida schools that might have something of a 'small school within a larger school' feel (Honors colleges). Would The Honors, Scholars and Fellows House fit that description?

To my knowledge FSU does not advertise the Honors Program as a “college within a college” or a similar term as all FSU programs are of sufficient quality to challenge academically talented students.

Generally, (at least in Florida) an Honors Program is different from an Honors College as a university with overall high quality (like Florida State) does not need to concentrate resources into a special college for better students.

Yeah, the FSU Honors Program isn’t like a “college within a college.” While there are a number of classes that are only open to Honors students, that’s really the big difference. Well, that and that Honors students get to live in Landis/Gilchrist and get to register for classes the day that registration opens up.

It has a Chick-fil-a, Rising Roll, and a POD Market on the bottom floor. I repeat, a CHICK-FIL-A!! It’s included for basically breakfast or dinner on the Renegade 5-Day All-Access Meal Plan on weekdays.

“and get to register for classes the day that registration opens up.”

This is a big perk. Some classes fill up quickly and are nearly impossible to get into until you are an upper classman.

Considering there’s a Chik-Fil-A right off the west side of campus, I really don’t care anymore that one opened up on campus. I’d rather see more dining options that will be open past about 7pm on campus and would be open on the weekends. The current dining options for people on campus at night and on the weekends absolutely suck.
