I personally think that in terms of savviness, there are schools that beat UCLA. I'm trying to be as fair as I can here, and just give what I think are the strengths and weaknesses. I will not resort to trolling, or simply saying, "UCLA is teh bestest! LOLZ!" I'm not arguing that all of my opinions are necessarily canon.

Some things at Cal win, some things at UCLA win. Overall, it's just about what you want in a school. I wasn't worried about prestige, because I knew that I'd kick ass at any school enough to counteract any loss of prestige (yes, that was terribly arrogant. Oh well.) That's how anyone should feel about their school, if they choose it with that it mind.

And really, 10 years from now, nobody is gonna care where you went to college.

Westow, I come back here the next day and you're still arguing? Don't you have anything better to do? You and Exilo are like children. Someone(me) comes on your board to say that he agrees with everything that's being said about UCLA except in the prestige department and you all flip out. You have an all or nothing mentality, and I'm just now starting to feel what many stanfurd students feel about some berkeley students when they make crazy assertions that Cal is better than stanfurd. And exilio, you say, "man I love rivalries." Well, sorry to burst your bubble but Cal's rival is Stanfurd, not UCLA. You guys have a longstanding rivalry with USC that is just as good as ours is with Stanfurd, so why don't you just keep yours going and hop off of our coattails. BTW, the reason that I keep posting is just to see you nut-cases freak out. Its pure entertainment.

Likewise I find u back here today again and u r still arguing? Don't YOU have anything better to do? You are a child like me. so what's ur point? and btw ur screename is misleading. change it to AdolescentandKid instead.

I also hate to burst ur bubble too, but only Cal students think that they are rivals with StanfUrd. Lots of StanfUrd students don't even consider there to be a rival between them and Cal.

Also, please note that the topic of this thread is "I chose UCLA over Cal." this has nothing to do with "prestige" because people got into Cal as well.

oh really did u happen to come to this thread and suddenly go "Yup yup i agree, UCLA is very very good, except for the prestige part"? no i think u were the one who flipped out after exilio made that comment about Cal students being hippies. lets revisit ur first post and rejog ur memory, which u seem to lack. hmm go read it over and tell me if it doesnt sound retaliatory and antagonistic. and i point out that u mentioned "prestige" about 3 times in a single post and yet u said we are obsessed about it. what are u implying anyways? u still havent answered my question: Do you even go to Cal? If u like Cal so much then u should be spending ur time trying to get in. Since I am such a nut-case, why dont u prove that u arent one?

btw if u still havent figured it out, I dont really care about the two schools either; I just don't like you. see how easy it is to pick out details from what u say and turn them against u? u should try that too; its a good way to analyze things and prepare u for skills u need in college.

The whole "this college" or "that college" effect is so limiting in terms of academics. I think of UCLA as a venue to learn. Yes, I love it to death, but I don't place some godly value on it. I'm excited to go to a new school for grad.

We're so damn patriotic when it comes to our schools here. Last week I got *ed when I went home because the first thing my parents did was yell at me for my crap grades. So I got *ed and I said something like "I wish I went to LA..." LoL

Dude, screw academics. As much as it should be cared for, I don't think I really care all that much in the end =P. It's all about having fun anyways.

Your parents gave you hell? My family grilled me about graduating with only "cum laude" and not "magna or summa." Good God. My Aunt argued with me for days about how terrible a decision it was for me to go to UCLA instead of Columbia and blah blah blah.

I love my Jewish family, they're all such mensches.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh
why does every thread that contains both UCLA and Cal in the title have to degenerate into yet another debate on which is better?!? They are different. One is stronger in some areas, the other is stronger in others. But MORE IMPORTANTLY, one FEELS RIGHT for some, and one FEELS RIGHT for others. The purpose of this thread was for those of us who felt that UCLA was right for us to bond so we'd know that we weren't alone in choosing UCLA when many of our peers felt Berkeley was right for them. Whew, that was a long, convoluted sentence.

in real life, most UCLA student's don't degenerate cal. of every single ucla student i've met so far who had the choice between both, they say they chose ucla because of "atmosphere" or "environment"... it was just about fit for them. none of them say "cuz cal sucks" or for academic reasons. and i never heard anyone say "im going to ucla cuz it's easier" -_-
