I was rejected Stanford SCEA.

Likely letter from Columbia though...just goes to show it's kind of random

A lot of people here are wondering, "What if? What if I had gotten into Ivy-X?"

Well, what if.....
What happens IS your "what if"? Stay with me here; hear me out. Imagine it's 2 years from now, and 2nd semester finals are looming at your Ivy-X. You are beat. You are tired. You are exhausted. Just from keeping up. And you've got two more years of this rigor to get through. Then one night while you are studying with your roommate, you start discussing, "What if I hadn't gotten in here? What if I had gone to University-B?" You then imagine yourself there. You're at the top of your class. You are challenged but not spent. You have the BEST teachers, the BEST friends. You're the first chair in the orchestra. You are the lead in the university's production. A professor has asked you to assist with a research project that he knows you are passionate about. The campus is fun. You are HAPPY. You can't imagine yourself anywhere else.

So...what if?

I know how you feel because I got rejected from my first choice of college and it was really hard to get through it.
Rejected: CSU Long Beach
Accepted: CSU San Bernardino, Northridge
I'm still waiting for my UC's and one CSU and a private university

Yesterday, I got rejected by UC Davis. Today, I got rejected by UC Santa Cruz.
I cried my eye balls out. I know and understand that we can look at this in some positive way (not), but come on now, rejection is never easy. Especially when you've actually worked hard, told them your passions, presented who you are...then they send you a rejection letter that basically says, "Oh well we don't really like you. You don't need to come here".
It really does hurt. UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara have yet to tell me they don't want me either. I'll deal with it. I just thought I would at least get into one.

I just totally got rejected from UCSD!!! =/

asian_girl: same here, but i still got into cal poly slo and usc sooo yea. but at least ucsd scores differently than others like cal and ucla

So far:
Accepted: University of Wisconsin-Madison, with honors
Deferred: Yale
Waitlisted: WashU

Waiting to hear from Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, GW, Georgetown

wow, this makes me feel hopeful for next year.

naaaaat :p

Rejected: UCSD (or so I believe, it was up last night and they took it down this morning)

Waitlisted: Rensselaer

Accepted: U of A with honors, ASU, NAU (full tuition scholarships to AZ schools and safety), UCI, and I can go to UW if I choose (my dad's friend is on the Board and offered me admission)

Waiting: UCLA, Berkeley, Stanford (a long shot), USC
but if I got rejected from UCSD prospects are not so good for me...my dreams have died and am waiting for the heart attacks to arrive

wow... i didn't even have the guts to apply to ivy. I was really disappointed yesterday when I got rejected from UCSD. My sister goes there right now, and that makes it all the worst. My parents are totally going to question my potential with the whole "she got in but you didn't" nagging. And my sister got in last year, so its a pretty recent issue. Now that I got rejected from SD, I'm not so confident about UCB and UCLA and maybe even USC. And I only applied to 6 colleges!!

But I'm sure that if you try hard xsuubiex in undergrad, you'll get into one of your dream ivy schools for graduate =D

no college rejections (yet) but was rejected for the johnson scholarship (full ride) @ washington and lee. i'm sure more rejections are on the way.

I got rejected to UCSB and UC Davis. My mom has spent her time and money, and my dad has spent his money also, on my SAT prep classes, seal beach volleyball club (did it because it would boost EC), and many many test fees.

I'm ready to go to a CC but I'm just depressed cause my parents went through more than just what I listed above to support me to get into any UC's... but I guess I failed them :/

I think it was my GPA, since I tanked junior year after overloading myself with impossible and crazy courses. After my GPA tanked, there was really no point in me trying for all four years in EC's and hard ap courses. I wish someone told me to take regular classes and have a 4.0 GPA instead of busting my butt to get a 3.8GPA.

Don't know what's gonna happen once the rejection comes in, my parents are planning to kick me out so I gotta prepare. But I felt comforted knowing that there's more than just me out there who's struggling w/ rejections :) thanks all

still waiting for: UCI, Cal, and ... huh I guess that's it.

oh. crap. like I have a chance after getting rejected to UCSB AND UCDavis

wait caltech27 did you attend the scholarship weekend??

i will get rejected everywhere bc my GPA is freak low, even though i have a (comparatively) much higher sat score and i have actually developed a computer program that won an international contest.

MY GPA IS KILLING ME. I SHOULDA CARED MORE AND I SHOULD SUCKED UP AND I SHOULDA FOUGHT FOR THE LITTLE POINTS!!!!

UGH SCREW THIS!

^ Same, hah.

same with me. Just got rejected from GT. That's probably why.

Got rejected from UCD, UCSD and Standford. Waiting for UCI, BC and NYU. Accepted to CSLO.

noface, call your closest CSU and talk to someone at admissions. Explain your situation (that is, IF you get rejected at all UC's). I know of someone who called a CSU in SoCal and explained that they had not sent in an application because they thought they would qualify for more aid for private school tuition. Bear in mind the application due date was months prior. The cal state asked her to send her application in asap and she was accepted within 2 weeks for Fall 2009. There are cal states that will still have room, all is not lost!
