so, i know its unlikely, but is there anybody out there that got into a top-tier school w/o a 2100? cause if not, i'm not going to pomona with my 1890 :(. (dont worry, im retaking in may)

I posted this in the 2300 thread, but I suppose I'll repost to get your hopes up:

I made the NYU Steinhardt Scholars program with a 2030.

The best though is one of my friends. He's Asian (no affirmative action involved), 1850 SAT and these are some of the schools he made:

Brown

Cornell

NYU Stern (scholars program)

University of Chicago

Boston College

Washington University in St. Louis

How did my friend do it? Well, I don't even really know, but this is what he had going for him:

He was ranked #2 in his class (his school was a sub-par NYC public school, but he was still #2).

He was involved in several school clubs.

He applied to A LOT of schools (when I say a lot, I mean over 20).

He's actually excelling at NYU Stern right now with a 3.7 GPA, outperforming students with much higher scores. So there is more that matters than the SAT.

lol would u chose NYU stern over brown and cornell?

Well, he made the scholars program (25K scholarship) and NYU Stern is an awesome biz school. He said he really didn't fit in at Brown and didn't like the fact that Cornell is in the middle of upstate NY.
