We got the good news today that my S was accepted at BigState U!
I have done my 12th. I have simultaneously applied for Winter (Jan 17), Summer (June 17) & Fall sessions in differen Universities. I have made up my mind to go in either fall or summer.
University of Michigan - Comp Sci Class of 2021 (summer 17-June 17) ACCEPTED (YAY!!)
University of Wisconsin Madison- Comp Sci Class of 2021 (Winter 17- Jan 01) Accepted.
Michigan State University- Comp Sci (Winter 17) Accepted
University of Texas, Austin (Applied for Fall 17)
UCLA, UCB , UCSD, GA Tech, University of Southern California (Applied for Fall 17)
@slightlymad that is a really strong profile. I am sure that you will get into most UC’s.
Just a question, with this profile why don’t you apply to the Ivies?( Though UMich is a public Ivy) You shouldn’t settle for something lesser than that.
BTW Congratulations on your acceptances.
@piku1998 (my guess 1998 is your DOB) this apart. Go check the profile of students into ivy leagues. These universities are tougher to get into than you think. Their (ivy leagues) 25 (avg scores of 75 percent students) percentiles starts from 1520 and 75 percentile (avg score of TOP 25 percent students) ends up at perfect 1600. I have seen such CVs like AP classes attended. 3 APs tests like 5/5, SATs like 1570/1600,awards from Nobel Laureates and having PATENTS filed up in their 11th or 12th grade, Internships from such companies, Summer schools from IVY/MIT/Stanford. IVIES ARE WAY TOO COMPETITIVE. I have seen rejections of my fellow pals.
what you see as 8-16% acceptance rate of ivies is from a pool of very very selective candidates (along with some dreamers having 1300s). Beyond that the acceptance is all the more tough for Int’nl students
@slightlymad Well, that is true indeed. It is just your profile, which made me spurt out my opinion.
Also, never apply to a university with a pre-condition that you will get accepted. At least, that is what I believe.

GPA - In 9th and 10th I got 9.8 CGPA and in 11th ~85% (CBSE)
Class Rank - 1/20 (Yeah my school has a ridiculously tough checking system in 11th grade)

@IamINTP My preferred major is Economics (it is the most popular major in like 70-80% of the colleges I applied to).
My second choice major is either International Relations or Global Studies.
World History I haven’t sent anywhere but the other 2 I have sent everywhere.
The reason why I sent them is because I’ve opted for Humanities in 11th and 12th and so I don’t have Math as a subject so it’s a serious deficiency.
I might even have to take extra calculus courses in college lol.
