The Indian Thread (TiT) # 17

I don't think its for CBSE students. ANU only seemed to list the requirement for ISC(me!)
And I was mistaken, the stream I really want- B Philosophy (Hons) Science (ANU)/B Science (Hons) (NUS) needs 99%
/me faints

Even for CS it is 98%

Check-http://info.anu.edu.au/studyat/assets/International_Office/pdf/intadmissions09.pdf

P.S. Its best 4 subjects :P That would mean me getting-
Maths-100
Phy-100
CS-100
Chem-96(most unlikely :( )

I wonder if the % asked are rounded off to nearest integer or absolute mins.?

^ Relax
Even if I'm drunk....i wouldn't say the requirement is 98 or even 88

I SCORED 68% IN SCIENCE STREAM FROM CBSE BOARD. I WANT ADMISSION BE/BTECH FIRST YEAR IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING IN AUSTRALIA OR NEW | Studyplaces

For B.Econ at ANU i only need 86% (best of 4)...that sounds pretty damn easy....

If you're looking at Australia
i suggest look at Singapore first...

You can still get in with a more 'human' score. But then again, its practically very difficult I guess. At 68% though, I must really admire the guy's guts at even asking that sort of question.... I mean you can get 80% easily even with last day preparations if you really are ANU material!!
Clarification from the ANU site-
Undergraduate

ANU maintains a schedule of scores required from various overseas senior secondary qualifications for entry to University undergraduate programs.

Students with qualifications not listed are encouraged to apply regardless as equivalent results in other exams may be acceptable for admission.

Admission to combined degrees is at the higher cut-off of the two degrees.

P.S. Really, this thread is on fire! Just hope all you wonderful seniors won't leave us ignorant sheep in the wilderness when you migrate to the greener fields :P

P.P.S. Just saw Prateek's post. Yes, I'm very serious about Singapore too. I have a friend who did 11th and 12th from there through SIA-NOL as I mentioned earlier. He guided me quite a bit on my prospects there. And it does certainly seem an excellent option considering the financial scenario.

P.P.P.S. Just saw there were columns for SAT and ACT too!
But for my choices its either 2325 or 2326+ and 35/36 for ACT with min. 2 APs(I will have 5 solid ones when I apply)
So I guess its time for me to cram a bit more seriously for ACT. OMG! Only 4 days to go! :O

oh cool.

hahaha
not till september atleast ;)
even after that i'll still be on cc :)
time for some "payback" :)

Eh, I'm not going anywhere for a while :D.

Hey gary, ACT's a piece of cake. I took it in the 10th grade and thought it was pretty easy then, so you should breeze through it.

I wish i had a chance to give the ACT

with a 2070 in my SAT....

ye lord...help me

@tetris(argh! what a stupid game)- Might I mention all I have to prepare are stupid ebooks! And do you really expect me to get 35 on first attempt? :o
I mean 32 or something might be a lil more probable. Anyways, I WILL go for the magic mark whether I get it or not :)
Dying to go to Mussorie! Woodstock school is pretty awesome I heard....

32 is 99th percentile too, so that would be awesome too :).
Woodstock...nice school but snobbish people (as far as I've had contact with them)

Anyways,Gary, for Singapore unis, would the SATs suffice,or do they still fiddle with your Board marks?

Lol, I don't think I'm fit to answer any queries here :P I know too little. All I can do is ask ask ask! But I guess they do see your board marks and make it one of the factors....coupled with SAT, ECs, olympiads etc....

Its okay;)...just asked because you seem to be interested in SG unis too

Wish interest were equal to knowledge and expertise :(

@smartchap

As far as I know, SATs aren't required for Indians studying CBSE and other Indian curriculum based systems. SATs are only for internationls...And anyways, even if they did require you to take it, your boards would what would matter more. SATs are just a small portion of admission requirements.

got into Wharton..wait listed at Harvard, Columbia and Brown..very elated..thanks a lot everyone.

Congrats! :D

I hate it when I ask universities queries through email and they reply showing a link I've read more than 50 times!...lol...most replies are automated

That's fantastic vandit...rock Penn :)
