The Interview

So my interview is scheduled for Nov.1. I am nervous as heck right now and was wondering if any of you could offer me some advice. What should I wear? Those of you who’ve already had the interview, what should I expect? Are they going to ask those predictable questions like Why penn? and How i would benefit the penn community?
thanks.

It doesn't count very much, so don't sweat it. Dress "business casual' (don't know if you are M or F). Yes, they'll probably ask you "Why Penn?", so at least be prepared to show some enthusiasm for the school.

yeah seriously. the interview is probably the among the least important of the application. I mean, come on, it's optional for a reason. They're actually there to help you, and give you more information about Penn and their experience there. It's obviously not that big of a deal. But if you have a chance to do it, go for it. And I mean do your best, you'll be fine. I've heard that Penn interviewers are generally really warm and outgoing and personal, and some of my friends at Upenn told me that they stayed extra with their interview and lost track of time because they had such in depth convos. So you have no reason to worry, I'm sure you'll be fine :).

A good interview will not get you in, but a really bad one will keep you out. If you are invited for an interview go, because not going looks worse than a mediocre interview. MIT gave me a letter showing that twice the % of applicants who interviewd got in than those who chose not to interview. While it is not Penn, MIT is just as competitive and if they look favorably on interviewing, why shouldnt Penn?
