I just got a call for an interview with an alumn off-campus…but it’s my first interview and don’t really know what to expect. I’ve heard the type of questions people are asked and I know i shouldn’t be nervous and it’s more of a conversation than anything but what someone told me that their Bowdoin interview was the hardest one they have ever had. So what kind of questions do Bowdoin alumni tend to ask? and what about clothing…I always thought you should dress nicely…even a suit…but she scheduled the interview at Friendly’s.

Don't worry about clothing wear whatever makes you comfortable (casual or formal). And, other interviews of mine were kinda informal. So, they would expect you to just be the one who you already are! To be safe, it is good to be ready to answer few technical questions those require common sense. For eg, maybe, which is your difficult subject and why? What would you want to do to improve YOUR high school? and blah blah...

Sit back while conversing, relax, and try to prevent your nerves mannerisms like tapping, fisting, mumbling, and all. Of course the interviewer expects that you would be nervous so you can get some of the concession. The truth of the matter is being real so be real and things come out easily.

my alumni interviewer was verrry nice and it was definently my best (actually only good) interview out of the 6 i've had. We just talked about shared interests, bowdoin, nothing difficult or abscure... it was actually kind of fun!

She also told me that Bowdoin puts a lot of emphasis on interviews in their admission process...but I don't know if i believe that!
