Many thanks for all the replies and I think I inadvertently “hijacked” this post! Sorry to the OP. @adamb529, I actually meant that our friend indicated the “size” of the dorm room was such a small part of the Rice college experience. His room at Brown is apparently smaller than other rooms? He actually loves it and is really enjoying Brown and Rice University.
@ FallenAngel- thank you so much for the wonderful advice! I will have my daughter read this post and bear it in mind as she progresses through her high school career. BTW, our freshman track friend at Rice who is in Brown is Chris S. and he is a great person and an inspiration for my daughter. There was a big article in the local newspaper when he signed to Rice and he is a really amazing athlete.

He’s not the guy I was thinking of but I’m pretty sure I know who that is! That’s really nice to hear.

You guys all got me really excited about Rice, I think it is very likely it will be a top choice, all I have to do it find a time to go visit before next year, and then apply ED. IMO I have good stat, most of them are slightly below 75th percentile, and then with ED, Out of State (Big boost I heard), and all my ECs that’ll hopefully seal the deal.

Thanks to all of you :)

Hey,
Thanks very much silentsailor for giving me a very thorough reply and yes, those two alleged Rice students were unnecessarily rude because I LOVE Rice and i would hate to know that there are students like them at the school.

Additionally, I did not mean to portray myself as the b*tchy, flaky, greek row-serial partier type. i actually AM really nerdy and into video games and guy stuff. I just mean that I wanted to know whether there are a lot of extremely eccentric and out-there types at Rice. Clearly, there is a lot of diversity and a spirit of acceptance at this school that appeals to me.

Thank you for all of your kind replies and i think that Rice could definitely be the place for me. Texas is amazing!! and yes, silentsailor: i am looking for the good ol’ southern boy types :)
