The list? Too reach heavy? NOT A CHANCE THREAD!

True Yelopen, and I’d like to think they are up to par, but we’ll see.

I just feel like I need another safety or so on the list, but noimagination has provided me with a ton!

P.S.
'Grats on Yale =)

Yeah, I think you need one more safety and it’ll be okay. I think USC wouldn’t be a bad idea? It’s probably in between safety and match for you, and if you become a National Merit Finalist you’ll get half-tuition. It’s a great school. I usually like to promote that a bit since one of my friends is going there as an NMF.

And thanks :)

Hm. Okay. We did have an admissions officer come visit our school and I kind of put it off because it has its own application, which is a drag. But, if I start soon, who knows!

Thanks so much for your help =)

I would add Brown, Dartmouth, and at least Northwestern. In my bet there’s no safer strategy than applying to alot of reasonable reaches. You’re likely to get into one of them. You’re in consideration for the top, I think you’re doing yourself a disservice by not giving yourself a chance at one of them.

I think you need to add another match school – something that has over a 20% acceptance rate.

The problem with your list is that it IS reach-heavy. I think students of your caliber have mostly reaches and safeties, because all the very top schools have too many applicants. Just make sure you have a few safeties that you can love and it will be good!

I think people focus too much on safeties. In my high school the ones who didnt do well tended not to have enough reaches or high matches and too many safeties. That’s why they are called safeties. The real safety approach is to apply to Michigan rolling, get in an app by september, you’re in by October, and now you can just apply to reaches.

Good safeties would be something like state schools such as Penn State and Ohio State. I would suggest that you consider applying to Johns Hopkins Univesrity as you mentioned earlier. It is one of the best premed/med schools in the nation. It’s considered as an “unofficial” member of the Ivy League.
